結論：「説明する」「話し合う」「答える」をすべて同じ語順で書くと失点します。explain the rule to me、discuss the rule、answer the question、reply to the emailのように動詞ごとの目的語と前置詞を覚えます。

5つの動詞の後ろに来る語を決める
explain something to someone（人に何かを説明する）：Please explain the rule to me.（規則を説明してください。）describe something to someone（特徴を説明する）：Describe the picture to us.（私たちに絵を説明して。）discuss something（何かを話し合う）：We discussed the plan.（計画について話し合った。）answer a question（質問に答える）：He answered my question.（質問に答えた。）reply to a message（メッセージに返信する）：She replied to my email.（彼女はメールに返信した。）
「discuss about」は中学英作文の基本語法では避けます。ただしhave a discussion about … は名詞discussionを使う別構文として正しい形です。answer toも名詞のan answer to a questionなら使えるため、品詞まで確かめましょう。
