結論｜be absent from・miss・be late for・leave early
- be absent from＋授業：She was absent from class yesterday.（授業を欠席）。
- miss＋授業・バス：He missed the first ten minutes.（最初の10分を逃した）。He missed the bus.（乗り損ねた）。
- be late for＋予定：I was late for the meeting.（会議に遅刻した）。
- arrive late：She arrived late at nine ten.（遅れて到着）。
- leave early：She left class early.（授業の途中で早退）。
- ask to leave：早退の許可を求めることと、実際に早退したことを区別。
英語の人数読解では「参加登録者」「一部でも出席した人」「授業の全時間いた人」「全体を欠席した人」を分ける必要があります。遅刻や早退は、一定時間の参加があった場合には全体欠席と同じではありません。

独自英文：At Willowbridge School, twenty students belonged to the science club. The club held a workshop on Monday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Two students were absent from the workshop because they were ill. The other eighteen attended. Of those eighteen, Ken missed the first ten minutes because his bus was late; he arrived at 9:10 a.m. Another student, Yuki, asked the teacher for permission to leave early for an appointment. The teacher agreed, and Yuki left at 10 a.m. The remaining sixteen students attended the entire workshop. The club leader wrote the attendance report carefully. Eighteen students attended at least part of the session, but only sixteen stayed for the whole two hours. Two students were absent for the entire workshop, and one attendee arrived late. The teacher told the club that being absent, arriving late and leaving early were different facts and should not be counted as if they meant the same thing.

誤答の原因と7日間の復習
- absent to classと書いた→absent from class。
- miss to the busと書いた→miss the bus。
- late to the meetingと書いた→late for the meeting。
- latelyを遅刻の意味で使った→late。
- 早退者を終日欠席者として数えた→少なくとも一部に参加したか確認する。
- 全欠席2・一部参加18・全2時間参加16を区別する。
1日目から4日目は各8問、5日目に初見Read8問、6日目に出席・欠席・遅刻・早退の報告英文を各1文作成し、7日目に初回誤答だけを白紙で再テストしてください。
よくある質問
be absent fromとmissは同じですか？
授業に参加できないという意味で重なる場面がありますが、missは授業の一部を聞き逃した場合やバスに乗り損ねた場合にも使えます。
be late forとarrive lateの違いは？
be late forは何に遅刻したか、arrive lateは遅れて到着した行為を表します。
早退した生徒は欠席扱いですか？
学校の出欠規則は別に確認が必要です。この教材の読解では「途中まで参加した」という事実と「全体欠席」を分けます。
miss the first ten minutesは全体を欠席した意味ですか？
いいえ。明示された最初の10分を逃したことだけが分かります。
left earlyなら参加人数に含まれませんか？
数え方によります。本文で一部参加として数えるなら参加人数に含めます。
