結論｜賛成・承諾・決定・受諾・拒否を区別する

• agree with a person/an opinion：I agree with you.（同意見です）。実際の行動を約束したとは限らない。
• agree to a proposal／agree to do：We agreed to the new rules.（規則に同意した）／We agreed to help.（手伝うことを承諾した）。
• agree on a date：We agreed on Friday.（金曜に合意した）。誰が合意したのか本文で確認。
• accept an invitation／an offer：招待や申し出を受け入れる。accept to doとは通常言わず、agree to doを使う。
• refuse an offer／refuse to do：申し出を断る／行動を拒否する。decline an invitationは比較的丁寧に断る表現。
• disagree with＋人・意見：反対する。disagree to youとはしない。

重要な注意：agree with a planはその計画をよいと思うこと、agree to a planはその計画を受け入れ承諾すること、agree on a planは関係者で計画について合意に達することです。ただし自然な英文では文脈によって複数の言い方が可能であり、前置詞だけで機械的に誤りと判断しないことが大切です。

学習方法｜5分の確認から英作文・読解へ

• 問1〜24：前置詞with／to／onと動詞の型を一度に確認。なぜその語形になるか日本語で説明。
• 問25〜40：承諾・拒否の意味と和文英訳を解き、文全体を自力で書く。
• 問41〜48：長文を読み、『最初の意見』『最後に決定したこと』『未決定』『招待承諾』『実際の出席』を区別する。
• 答え合わせは模範例と意味・文法が一致する自然な別解も認める。翌日と7日後に誤答だけ白紙で書き直す。

agree to＋提案・条件で「承諾する」、agree to doで「～することを承諾する」。後者のtoは不定詞のtoです。

agree on a date／time／planは「日程・時間・計画について合意する」。agreementは全員一致とは限らず、本文に明記された参加者を確認します。

accept＋名詞は申し出・招待を受ける。refuse＋名詞／refuse to doは拒否する。decline＋名詞は丁寧に断る場面でも使われます。

オリジナル英文：The environment club at Lakeview School wanted to hold an exhibition about saving water. There were ten planning members. However, the main hall was not available on Friday, so the members compared other options. By the end of the meeting, all ten agreed on Saturday at 3 p.m. They had reached a decision about the date and time, but they had not yet agreed on the poster design. The art teacher agreed to lend the club five display stands. She accepted an invitation to give a short talk, but she refused to move the heavy tables because she had an injured arm. 間違えた問題をどう復習するか

• 賛成と承諾を混同：問1〜16で『同じ考え』『やると約束』の違いを再確認。
• 話し合いでの合意と決定内容を混同：問17〜24・41〜43で、いつ誰が何を合意したか説明。
• accept to doとagree to doの誤り：問25〜32を暗記ではなく意味から英訳。
• 登録・招待承諾と出席を混同：Readの人数を『招待済み24、承諾17、拒否5、未返信2』と分類。出席は未確定。

よくある質問

agree with a planとagree to a planはどちらが正しいですか？

どちらも使えますが、意味の焦点が異なります。agree withは内容を支持する、agree toは提案や条件を受け入れる、という区別です。学校の設問で『正式な承諾』を問われているか確認してください。

agree onとagree toは同じですか？

agree onは話し合って日時・場所・計画などの共通の結論に至る意味、agree toは提案や条件への同意、またはagree to doで行動への承諾を表します。

accept to helpは正しいですか？

学校英語の通常の用法では、受けた招待や申し出が名詞ならaccept an offer、手伝うことに同意したならagree to helpを使います。accept to helpは不自然です。

refuseとdeclineの違いは何ですか？

どちらも申し出を断る意味で使えます。decline an invitationは丁寧で改まった場面に適し、refuse to doは行動を拒否する意味を明確にできます。

招待にacceptした人数が実際の参加者数と同じですか？

同じとは限りません。招待の受諾は行事前の意思表示、attendは実際の出席を表します。長文読解や学校の資料問題では同じ数字だと推測しないでください。
