結論｜理由・仕組みはexplain、特徴はdescribe、紹介はintroduce
中高一貫校の英語でexplain・describe・introduceを混同する場合、まず伝えたい情報を三つに分けます。explainは理由や仕組みを分かりやすく説明する動詞で、The teacher explained the rule to us.のように使います。describeは人や物の特徴・様子を言葉で描写し、She described the painting to me.のように使います。introduceは人物を紹介したり、新しい話題・製品などを導入したりする動詞で、Let me introduce my friend to you.が基本です。特にexplain me the ruleではなくexplain the rule to meという語順が重要です。

Could you explain this rule?はその規則を説明してもらえますか、という意味です。explainは単に見た目を語るのではなく、どうしてそうなるか、どのように働くかを明らかにする用法が中心です。
explain something to someone｜順序に注意
Please explain the answer to me.が基本で、Please explain me the answer.とは通常言いません。explainはgiveやteachのように『人＋物』を直接二つ並べる基本構文を取らないため、語句整序で注意が必要です。
explain why/how｜理由・方法を説明
Can you explain why you were late?は遅刻した理由を説明できますかという意味です。Please explain how this machine works.なら仕組みの説明です。疑問詞に続く節は間接疑問文の語順になり、how does this machine workとはしません。
describe｜外観や様子を言葉で描写
Can you describe the building?は建物がどのようなものか説明してもらえますか、という意味です。He described the scene in detail.も同様です。describeは『理由を説明する』というより『どんな様子か伝える』ことに焦点があります。
describe someone/something to someone
She described the new student to me.は新入生がどんな人か私に説明したという意味です。describe me the studentとは通常書きません。explainと同じく『内容＋to＋聞き手』の形が役立ちます。
introduce｜人を紹介する
I’d like to introduce my sister to you.は姉妹を紹介したいという意味です。introduce me my sisterではなく、introduce someone to someoneを使いましょう。introduce yourselfは自己紹介するという意味です。
introduce｜新しい考えや商品などを導入
Our school introduced a new system.は学校が新しい制度を導入したことです。The speaker introduced the topic at the beginning.のように話題を提示することもあります。人の紹介だけに限定されない点を覚えてください。
explainとdescribeの違いを一つの題材で比較
Describe the robot.なら形・大きさ・色などの特徴を述べます。Explain how the robot works.ならなぜ動くか、どんな仕組みかを説明します。同じロボットを扱っても、尋ねられる情報が異なります。
introduceとdescribeの違い
Let me introduce our new classmate.は新しいクラスメートを紹介します。Let me describe our new classmate.ならその人物の性格や外見などを描写します。誰かと知り合う機会を作るのか、どんな人かを言葉で説明するのかが判断点です。
explainとteachの違い
The teacher taught us English.は先生が私たちに英語を教えたことです。The teacher explained the grammar rule to us.は特定の文法規則を分かりやすく説明したことです。teach us the ruleは可能ですが、explain us the ruleは標準的な基本構文ではありません。
三つの動詞の活用
explain–explained–explained、describe–described–described、introduce–introduced–introducedです。三単現はexplains・describes・introduces、進行形はexplaining・describing・introducingです。
