英検準2級プラスのReading・Writingでremind・remember・recall・memorizeは「覚える」「思い出す」と訳されがちですが、文型が異なります。remind 人 to do＝人に忘れないよう知らせる、remember to do＝忘れずに実行する、remember doing＝行った記憶がある、recall＝過去を思い起こす、memorize＝暗記するという区別が出発点です。慶英会が制作した独自40問（文法12・書き換え12・長文4題16問）の全解答と全文和訳で確認してください。

結論｜4語の違いと受験で間違えやすい文型

• remind：本人以外の「人」に忘れないよう知らせる。remind me to call（電話するよう思い出させる）、remind me of my school（学校を思い出させる）、remind her that the date has changed。
• remember：本人が忘れずにいる・記憶している。remember to lock the door（忘れず施錠する）、remember locking the door（施錠した記憶がある）。
• recall：過去の出来事・知識を思い起こす。recall an event、recall what happened。rememberと重なるが、回想・想起をやや明示的に表せる。
• memorize：単語・台詞・公式などを暗記して覚える。memorize vocabulary / lines / facts。

重要なのはremember to do と remember doing は意味が反対方向だという点です。I remembered to email the teacher. は「忘れずにメールした」、I remember emailing the teacher. は「メールした記憶がある」です。どちらも単に「メールを覚えている」と訳してはいけません。

• まず remind 人 to do / remind 人 of 物 / remind 人 that節 の3形を、実例ごとに声に出して確認する。

• recall と remember は重なる用例もある。回想・想起した情報が本文に具体的に何か書かれているかを確認する。

remember to do と remember doing は何が違いますか？

remember to do は「忘れずにこれから行う／行った」、remember doing は「すでに行った記憶がある」です。I remembered to lock the door. と I remember locking the door. の違いを、時間の向きで確認してください。

remind の直後には何が必要ですか？

多くの場合、remind の直後には人が来ます。remind me to bring a book / remind her of the event / remind them that the time changed のように、人と「思い出させたい内容」を区別します。

recall と remember は入れ替えられますか？

過去の出来事を思い出すときは重なります。ただし remember to do のように「忘れずに行う」用法では recall to do とは通常言いません。文型を優先して覚えてください。
