英検準2級プラスのEメール・案内文では、opt in（自分で参加を選ぶ）、opt out（配信や参加から外れる）、default（初期設定）、automatic renewal（自動更新）を区別しましょう。何も選択していない状態と、参加を認めた状態は同じではありません。慶英会オリジナル4長文24課題で、読み落としを減らします。

対象：英検準2級プラスの読解で制度の初期設定や例外を誤読しやすい中高生。以下の学校・公共施設・制度は全て架空の独自教材で、現実のサービス規約や英検の公式過去問ではありません。

4つの用語

ある通知を停止しても、ほかのサービスや重要な連絡は引き続き有効である場合があります。必ず「何に関する変更か」を確認します。

6課題ずつの進め方

独自長文1｜学校の英語課題の配信設定

A school offers digital English practice materials for its students. Every registered learner receives a link to the ordinary worksheet each week. Additional speaking practice is optional, however, and students must tick a separate box to join it. Leaving the box empty means the student will not receive speaking invitations. Teachers will continue sending the ordinary worksheet even when that optional box is not ticked. A student can leave the extra practice later by changing the setting before Friday. The school confirms changes by email. Signing up for the ordinary worksheet alone does not establish permission for any additional activity.

独自長文2｜図書館からのお知らせを停止する

The public library sends a monthly update to members who previously agreed to receive it. The update includes new books and opening-hour changes, but it is not required to borrow books. Members can opt out of these messages by selecting Stop monthly updates on the account page. The change affects only the optional newsletter, not borrowing rights or important messages about overdue loans. Staff explain that choosing to stop marketing updates does not cancel membership. A confirmation email is sent after the preference is saved. If a member is not sure whether the setting changed, they can check the current preference on the account page.

独自長文3｜博物館の音声ガイドの初期設定

A museum lends visitors a simple device containing two sets of explanations. The standard guide is selected when the device is handed out. Visitors who prefer the more detailed English guide can choose it from the menu, but it does not begin automatically. Changing the selection does not require a new ticket. The museum asks visitors to return the device before closing. The device has a default guide because the museum needs one starting setting, not because every visitor has approved extra services. Staff are available to help change the language or level if someone finds the instructions difficult.

独自長文4｜地域シャトルの自動更新

A town offers a monthly bus pass. New customers receive a pass valid for one month after payment. The system does not automatically charge them again. Automatic renewal is available only to customers who activate the setting after reading the terms. When active, the system sends a reminder before the next payment date. Customers may turn the setting off before the stated deadline if they no longer need the pass. Turning it off stops future automatic renewals but does not immediately cancel the pass already paid for. Applying for the pass, receiving a reminder, and activating automatic renewal are separate actions.

間違い直しと発展

Automatic renewal is off by default.なら、何も設定しなければ次の自動課金はされないという意味です。Opt out of updatesは通知停止であり、会員資格の喪失とは限りません。本文に書かれていない同意や承認を作らないようにしましょう。

Q. opt outをすると全てのサービスが止まりますか？

必ずしも止まりません。何から外れるかは対象の説明を確認します。

Q. defaultは必ず有料という意味ですか？

いいえ。初期設定という意味で、料金の有無は別の条件で決まります。
