At East Hill School, students wanted to learn more about the night sky, but many had never used a star chart. Teachers opened the roof for supervised observation once a month. Because of safety rules, students could only visit in small groups, and every session had to end by nine o’clock.
During the first two meetings, the club recorded the stars that students could see at the beginning and end of each session. Some students noticed more stars later in the evening. A few concluded that nearby streetlights had become weaker. However, the teachers pointed out that thin clouds had also moved away during the observations.
The club’s records were useful because they encouraged careful observation, but they could not prove that the streetlights had changed. Next term, students plan to record cloud conditions as well as visible stars. The school also hopes to discuss unnecessary outdoor lighting with local residents, although no changes have been agreed upon.

A community gym usually played lively music throughout the day. Some older visitors said the sound made conversation difficult, while others enjoyed the atmosphere. To serve both groups, the gym introduced a quiet hour on Tuesday and Thursday mornings without removing music from the other sessions.
At first, attendance during the new hour was lower than expected. A notice at the entrance simply said ‘Quiet Gym,’ and several visitors thought that speaking was completely forbidden. When staff explained that only background music would be turned off, attendance rose. In a short survey, many beginners said the quieter period helped them ask questions.
The gym decided to continue the trial for two more months rather than make the schedule permanent immediately. It will also collect feedback from people who prefer music. The manager’s goal is not to make every session silent, but to offer clear choices based on different visitors’ needs.

West Park used drinking-quality water to keep its flower beds healthy during dry weeks. After several unusually hot summers, volunteers suggested collecting rainwater from the roof of the visitor center. The park installed two tanks and began using the stored water for some of its plants.
One month later, the monthly water bill was smaller. A local newspaper described the tanks as a successful solution. Yet park workers said the comparison was not simple: that month had been cooler than the previous one, and rainfall had been higher. In addition, some flower beds were temporarily closed for repairs and needed no watering.
The workers welcomed the promising result but wanted better evidence before estimating long-term savings. They decided to compare water use over a full year and record temperature, rainfall, and the number of flower beds being watered. The park will then be able to explain more clearly how much the tanks actually contribute.

A science museum wanted more visitors to understand its exhibits without needing to read long descriptions. Staff prepared short audio guides and labels that people could explore by touch. The project was designed especially for visitors who found printed information difficult to use, but the museum also hoped other guests would benefit.
During a weekend trial, twelve invited visitors and several family members tested the new materials. Some said the touchable labels helped them understand the shape of objects, while others preferred the audio guides. However, guides were available in only three rooms, and the museum had not yet tested them with large groups or visitors who spoke different languages.
The museum published a short report instead of announcing that the redesign was finished. Staff plan to improve the instructions, extend the guides to more rooms, and invite people with a wider range of needs. The trial showed which features might be useful, but it did not show that one format could meet everyone’s needs.

D. It tells how many family members came
A. It identifies a limit of the trial。
22|Which group had not yet been tested according to the text?
A. The twelve invited visitors
B. Several family members
C. Visitors who spoke different languages
D. Some visitors who used labels
