結論｜肯定文には否定タグ、否定文には肯定タグを付ける

He plays tennis, doesn’t he?（彼はテニスをしますよね）では肯定の一般動詞playsに否定タグdoesn’t heを付けます。He doesn’t play tennis, does he?では、否定文なので肯定タグdoes heが続きます。be動詞ならisn’t he / is he、過去の一般動詞ならdidn’t he / did he、助動詞canならcan’t he / can heのように、主語・時制・肯否を対応させます。

付加疑問文を作る3つのルール

• ① 文の肯定・否定を逆に：She is happy, isn’t she? / She isn’t happy, is she?
• ② 時制と助動詞を合わせる：She visited Kyoto, didn’t she? / She has finished, hasn’t she?
• ③ 主語を代名詞で受ける：Ken→he、Aya→she、the girls→they、this / that→it。
• there is/areの例外：There is a problem, isn’t there?
• I’mの例外：I’m late, aren’t I?
• Let’sの提案：Let’s leave, shall we?

否定疑問文のYes・Noは事実に合わせる

You don’t like coffee, do you? と聞かれたら、コーヒーが好きならYes, I do.、好きでなければNo, I don’t. と答えます。日本語の「いいえ、好きです」のような語感だけでYes / Noを選ばず、肯定の事実ならYes、否定の事実ならNoという英語の応答を確認します。

付加疑問はすべて暗記する必要がある？

語尾のタグだけを丸暗記せず、最初の文をbe動詞・一般動詞・助動詞・現在完了に分類すれば作れます。たとえばHe has finished.ではhasが現在完了の助動詞なのでhasn’t he?です。一方He has a bag.は所有の一般動詞としてdoesn’t he?を使うのが自然です。英語の変種によって所有haveの扱いが異なる場合もあるため、まずは形の明確な英文を練習します。
