結論｜人物の意図は最後の返事とその前の質問から判断する
英検準2級の会話リスニングで、誘いを断っているのか、提案に賛成しているのか、困っているのかが分からないときは、最初の問題・相手の提案・最後の応答をセットで聞きましょう。I wish I could, but … は参加したい気持ちと今回の断りが共存し、Good idea. やDefinitely. は提案に賛成していることを表します。単語だけを拾うと意図を逆に理解することがあるため、主語と否定・逆接も確認しましょう。
英検協会の準2級試験内容では、リスニングは全30問・各問1回放送、第2部は会話内容一致10問・印刷4択です。以下の独自8会話・24問は話し手の意図や行動を理解するための補助練習で、本番の1会話につき3問という意味ではありません。録音音源も付属しません。保護者・講師の読み上げや公式音源と組み合わせてください。
断り・不安・安心・賛成を聞く6表現
- I wish I could, but …：できればしたいが、都合がつかない。
- I’m worried about …：〜が心配。
- I feel better already.：もう気持ちが楽になった。
- I wasn’t excited at first.：初めはあまり期待していなかった。
- That sounds much better. / Definitely.：別案や提案への強い賛成。
- I’m not sure, but I’ll check.：現時点で不明だが確認する予定。
4段階の解き方
- まず質問の主語を確認。男性か女性か、名前のある話者かを間違えない。
- 会話前半で本人の希望・不安・最初の計画を押さえる。
- but・instead・at firstと、最後の発言を聞き、結論が変わったか判断。
- 4択では、本人が発言していない怒りや嫌悪、実現しなかった旧計画を除外。
公式の第2部は会話内容の一致を問うため、毎回必ず気持ちを直接尋ねるとは限りません。本教材は、内容を誤解しないための一つの技能として意図理解を扱います。

失点原因と7日間の復習
- 第1〜2日：断り・心配・安心を台本1〜2で聞き、butの前後で意思が変わったか説明する。
- 第3日：台本3〜4で最初の期待・最終評価と、提案への賛成を区別する。
- 第4日：台本5〜6で関心はあるが参加できない事情と助言への同意を区別する。
- 第5日：台本7〜8で待ち合わせの誤認と活動への賛成を確認する。
- 第6日：間違えた英語表現を声に出し、そのあと公式の初見音源で第2部を解く。
- 第7日：別回の未使用公式音源で、主語・時刻・話者の気持ちの判断を比較する。
同じ台本を繰り返して満点になっても初見の聞き取りが改善したとは限りません。聞こえない音・分からない語・会話の意図・4択の読み違いを区別して復習します。

Q．準2級の第2部は何問ですか？
現行の公式形式では10問・4択印刷・放送1回です。
Q．気持ちを問う問題は必ず出ますか？
必ずとは限りません。本教材は会話の内容一致を正確に解くための意図理解を練習します。
Q．I wish I couldは必ず断りですか？
文脈によりますが、誘いに対するI wish I could, but …は希望を表しながら今回の誘いを断ることがあります。
Q．I’m not sureは参加しないという意味ですか？
そうとは限りません。不明だという意味なので、そのあとの確認するかどうかを聞きます。
