Making School Events Easier to Find
At Greenfield School, parents sometimes missed announcements about school events. The school placed notices on a board near the entrance, but some parents rarely visited the building. A student group suggested sending more messages through the school website. Teachers agreed to test the idea but wanted to know whether parents actually found the information useful.
For four weeks, the group posted short announcements online and asked parents about their experiences. Many said they could find dates more easily. However, some families did not check the website regularly. The group therefore kept paper notices for important information while continuing the online service.
The students also realized that an increase in website visits did not prove that parents understood every message. They planned to ask families specific questions about event dates and meeting places, and to compare results after making the notices shorter. The project taught the students that communication is successful when people receive and understand information, not simply when it is published.
Q26 Why did some parents miss school announcements?
- 1. All events were canceled
- 2. Some did not often visit the school building
- 3. The school had no teachers
- 4. The notices used only English
Q27 What did the school do when some families did not check the website?
- 1. It stopped all announcements
- 2. It closed the website
- 3. It kept paper notices for important information
- 4. It required every parent to visit daily
Q28 Why couldn’t website visits alone show successful communication?
- 1. The website was never used
- 2. All students used the same device
- 3. Parents could not read English
- 4. A visit did not prove the message was understood
Q29 What did the students plan to check next?
- 1. Whether families understood event dates and meeting places
- 2. The color of the notice board
- 3. The price of school lunches
- 4. How many tablets teachers owned
