英検準2級の英文法で「It is important for students to study.」「It was kind of you to help.」「There are many students.」を混同する場合、Itが何を受けるのか、Thereが存在を表しているのかを先に判断してください。 形式主語のItはto不定詞やthat節で述べる内容を受け、for は行動の主体、of は人の振る舞いへの評価で使われる場合があります。慶英会ではオリジナル4択40問＋誤文訂正10題を用意しました。

「of＋人」だから常に正しいわけではありません。It is difficult for me to speak English. は話す行動の難しさであり、It was careless of me to lose the key. は不注意な自分の行動への評価です。また There is a library. は図書館の存在を導入しますが、It is a library. は何かを指して「それは図書館です」と特定する文脈で使います。

- 1：to不定詞の動作を評価しているのか、ある物が存在すると述べるのかを確認する。

意見英作文では It is important for students to learn about nature. と書くと、行動の重要性を簡潔に表せます。ただしこの英文だけでは理由2つを述べたことにはならないため、For example, they can learn how plants grow. のように内容を説明します。学校の文法テストでは、Itに対応する真の主語の位置やfor/ofの使い分けを確認してください。
