agree＝同意、refuse＝拒否、promise＝約束、offer＝自分から申し出る。この4語はどれもto不定詞を取り得ますが、相手の提案に応じたのか、拒んだのか、自分で約束したのか、手伝いを提案したのかで意味が変わります。英検準2級の会話と短文を想定した慶英会独自48問です。

agree・refuse・promise・offerの違い

• agree to do：相手の申し出・提案に同意する。They agreed to change the date.
• refuse to do：行動を拒否する。She refused to share the password.
• promise to do：将来の行動を約束する。He promised to return the book.
• offer to do：自分からすると申し出る。She offered to help us.

いずれもto doが続くため、文法だけでは答えが一意に決まらないことがあります。英検準2級では、断ったのか、同意したのか、頼まれずに助けたのか、確実にすると約束したのかという会話の状況を読み取りましょう。
