Part D|独自2長文・8問

長文1:学校の避難案内と重要事項の優先順位

A fictional school reviewed its emergency evacuation plan after a training exercise. Teachers agreed that functioning exits and clear instructions were essential for the safety of students. During the review, one member identified a crucial weakness: the existing notice did not explain how wheelchair users could reach an accessible route. A student representative was critical of the assumption that every person could use the same staircase. The committee therefore asked an expert to redesign the instructions. The expert’s knowledge was considered indispensable because nobody else on the team had experience of accessible evacuation planning. The school also checked whether necessary medical supplies and communication devices would be available. Although the revised plan addressed several problems, staff did not claim that the school was now completely free from risk. Further drills remained vital to identifying difficulties that might not be obvious during an ordinary day.

問33.What was essential for student safety?

問34.What crucial weakness did the committee identify?

問35.What assumption was the student representative critical of?

問36.Why was the expert considered indispensable?

長文2:地域医療の情報提供と研究結果の評価

A fictional regional clinic introduced an information service for patients living far from hospitals. Nurses explained that accurate guidance was vital when people had to decide whether to seek urgent treatment. The clinic prepared an online page, but a reviewer was critical of its assumption that every resident could access the internet. A community volunteer with experience assisting older patients became indispensable to the redesign process because she understood the practical barriers faced by those residents. The team decided that a telephone option was essential for anyone unable to use the website. Another crucial question involved the accuracy of medical information: the clinic checked all instructions with qualified staff. The director emphasized that critical examination of a service was not the same as hostility toward new technology. Instead, identifying weaknesses could help the team create a more reliable system. The clinic planned to seek patient feedback before expanding the service.

問37.What did nurses describe as vital?

問38.What was the reviewer critical of?

問39.Why was the volunteer indispensable?

問40.What did the clinic consider essential for people unable to use the website?

FAQ|criticalとcrucialの違い

criticalは必ず「極めて重要」という意味ですか?

いいえ。be critical of a reportは『報告書に批判的』、a critical reviewは『批判的・精査する評価』にもなります。
