go straight・turn left・crossの意味
go straight＝直進する、turn right＝右折、turn left＝左折、traffic lights＝信号、crossroads＝交差点、crossing＝横断歩道、go past＝通り過ぎる、opposite＝向かい、beside＝隣、on your right＝右側、instead＝代わりに、という意味です。
『最初の信号で左折』『次の信号で右折』のように順番があるときは、地図に矢印を描くと理解しやすくなります。駅からの徒歩時間と、信号に着くまでの徒歩時間を取り違えないようにしましょう。

Original English Directions：WALKING FROM HILL STATION TO THE LIBRARY (fictional). Leave Hill Station through the north exit. Walk straight along Green Street for about three minutes. At the first traffic lights, turn left onto River Road. Go past the bakery on your right. The town library is on your left, opposite a small park. There is a zebra crossing in front of the library. Use it when the pedestrian light is green. The walk from the station takes about eight minutes. The library opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. The entrance is next to the information board. The route is invented and must not be used for real directions.

Original English Directions：SCHOOL FESTIVAL WALKING GUIDE (fictional). Visitors should enter the school through the east gate. Walk straight until you reach the clock in the courtyard. Turn right at the clock, then follow the short path past the Music Room. The gym is the second building on your left. The first building is the Art Room, so do not stop there if you want the sports show. The sports show begins at 11:00 a.m. and finishes at noon. Visitors to the art exhibition should turn left at the clock instead. The information desk is beside the east gate. The school provides free maps there. This is a fictional school layout.

道案内3｜バス停からスポーツセンターへの歩行案内
Original English Directions：BUS STOP TO THE SPORTS CENTER (fictional). Bus 8 stops outside the town museum at 2:15 p.m. From the bus stop, walk to the first crossroads and cross the small street at the marked crossing. Turn right after the crossing. Walk past the post office on the left, then turn left at the next traffic light. The sports center is on the right beside a blue bicycle parking area. It takes about seven minutes to walk there. The swimming pool is on the first floor of the center, and Gym A is on the second floor. Swimming practice begins at 3:00 p.m. Students should arrive at the pool desk by 2:50. This route is not a real map.

Original English Directions：LIBRARY TO MUSEUM — WEEKEND ROUTE (fictional). The usual route from the town library to the history museum takes six minutes along Oak Street. This Saturday, Oak Street is closed for a school event. Visitors should walk along River Street instead. From the library’s main entrance, turn left and walk for two minutes to the traffic lights. Turn right there onto River Street. The museum is the third building on the right after the bakery. The new route takes about eleven minutes in total. The museum opens at 10:00 a.m. but the free history talk begins at 11:30 in Room 201. The normal route will be available again on Sunday. This is only an English reading exercise.
