リスニング第3部で先に整理する4つの情報

1. 誰が何をしたか｜人と行動を組み合わせる

短いパッセージでも、主人公、家族、先生、友達など複数の人物が登場する場合があります。Yui asked Sota to buy some carrots. なら、お願いしたのはYui、買い物に行ったのはSotaです。While he was shopping, the teacher prepared the tables. ではheがSotaを指します。単語だけを聞いて『誰が買った？』という質問にYuiと答えないように、人物と行動の対応を意識しましょう。

2. いつ起きたか｜旧予定・新予定・終了を分ける

They planned to meet on Friday, but the event moved to Monday. ではFridayはもともとの予定、Mondayは変更後の予定です。planned / originally / but / instead / now などが現れたら、時刻や曜日の役割が変わる可能性があります。数字だけを覚えるのでなく、最初の時刻・変更後・実際の活動開始を分けてメモするつもりで聞きます。

3. なぜ起こったか｜becauseとsoは原因・結果を結ぶ

The club started late because there were no carrots. は『材料がないから開始が遅れた』です。一方 There were no carrots, so Sota went to the store. では材料不足という原因から、店へ行ったという結果が続きます。becauseの後ろが理由、soの後ろが結果になりやすいことを理解し、本文にない理由を想像で補わないようにしてください。

4. 最後にどうなったか｜結末・次の行動を確認

最初のトラブルと結末は別です。自転車のタイヤがパンクした後、父が修理店へ運び、ケンは翌日バスで通学した、という情報が続けば、最後にしたことを問う問題で『自転車に乗った』を選ばないようにします。finally / after that / later / in the end のような時間表現が出る場合は、その直後の結果が重要です。

聞き間違いやすい接続語・時系列語

• because：理由。It was canceled because of heavy rain.
• so：結果。It was raining, so we stayed home.
• however / but：逆接・予定変更。However, the hall was full.
• before / after：前後関係。After lunch, they went home.
• first / then / later / finally：出来事を順番に並べる
• while：同じ時間帯。While he shopped, the teacher prepared tables.
• already / not yet：すでに完了か、まだ未完了か
• instead：最初の案とは別の方法・日時へ変更

接続語を聞き取れないと、英語の名詞や数字を覚えていても関係が逆になることがあります。He left early because he had a music lesson. と He had a music lesson, so he left early. は近い意味ですが、because節に結果を書くのか、soの前に原因を書くのかが異なります。英文を直訳するのでなく、出来事の矢印で整理しましょう。

家庭で音声なしの台本を2回読み上げるときの手順

①保護者・講師が英文を見て、学習者には台本を見せず一度読む。②学習者は『人物・日時・原因・結果』の4つだけ頭の中で整理する。③もう一度読み、質問に答えるのに必要な情報を意識して聞く。④質問に答えた後、初めて台本を見て聞き取れなかった箇所を確認する、という順で練習できます。この読み上げは公式音源と同じ速度・音質・間合いを再現するものではありません。

家庭内では学習者にメモ用紙を用意して練習して構いませんが、公式試験の解答形式やメモの扱いは試験当日の指示に従ってください。読み上げてくれる人がいない場合には、最初に英文を隠して音読を録音し、聞き返すなどの学習法も考えられます。本教材そのものには生成音声や実際の英検放送は含まれません。

8つの台本に共通する解き方｜矢印で順序を把握

たとえば『雨の予報→土曜から日曜へ変更→手袋は支給→水筒持参→清掃実施』と5つの節に区切ると、天候・予定・持ち物・行動の関係が見えやすくなります。『ノートが見つからない→教室を探す→司書に聞く→受付にあった→名前を書く』という別の物語も同じです。まず事実を短く並べ、次にbecause・however・afterなどで関係を確認します。

聞き取れなかったときにすべての単語を書き取ろうとする必要はありません。最初の一度で物語のおおまかな方向をつかみ、二度目に設問と関係する具体情報を確認する練習をします。数字や曜日が何度も出てくる場合は、最初・変更後・最後に分けると混同を防ぎやすくなります。
