英検4級と3級は何が違う？公式形式を比較
日本英語検定協会による4級の一次試験はReading35分＋Listening約30分で、任意のスピーキングテストは一次試験の合否とは別に受験できます。3級はReading・Writing65分＋Listening約25分に加えて英語の二次面接約5分があります。3級WritingはEメール1題＋意見英作文1題です。協会の4級試験内容と3級試験内容をご確認ください。
4級のReadingには語句整序の出題がありますが、3級Readingは短文空所15問・会話空所5問・長文内容一致10問の4択で、語句整序が独立した大問として出るわけではありません。ただし英作文を作るため、語順を理解する必要性は高まります。4級の任意スピーキングテストを受けたことと、3級の対面二次面接に合格することは別です。
- 読む：長文の出来事・理由・時刻・条件を本文から特定する
- 文法：時制、助動詞、受動態、関係代名詞などを文で使えるか確認する
- 書く：Eメールは2質問（15〜25語の目安）、意見英作文は考えと理由2つ（25〜35語の目安）を作る
- 話す：約30語の音読、本文質問、イラスト質問、自分のことへの回答を確認する
4級から3級へ進む際に『過去問の選択肢を見ると分かるが、同じ英文を書けない』という状態なら、最初から完璧な作文を求めず、問題文の主語・動詞を意識しながら少しずつ書く課題を増やす方針で練習します。学校の英語授業が早い中高一貫校でも、理解と運用を分けて確認できます。

4級に合格したのに3級で伸びない5つの原因
①単語の意味は知っているが時制を間違える：現在完了・過去形・受動態などの動詞形を本文で確認。②長文の根拠を探せない：最初の予定と変更後・Becauseの理由を分ける。③Eメールが質問に答えていない：Q1とQ2に必要な情報を先に日本語でメモする。
④意見英作文の理由が二つとも似ている：健康と協力、学習と友人など異なる観点に分ける。⑤面接で答えが止まる：Who・Where・When・Whyの疑問詞と、主語＋動詞の短い回答を練習する。失点の原因に合った練習へ戻ると復習が具体的になります。

FAQ｜英検4級から3級への進み方
英検4級に受かったらすぐ3級を受けてもよいですか？
級を飛ばさず順番に受ける義務はありませんが、3級のReading・Writing・Listeningと二次面接に対応できるかを確認してください。合格級だけで次の試験の準備が完了したとは判断できません。
英検3級のReadingに語句整序は出ますか？
現在の3級Readingには4級のような日本文付き語句整序の独立大問はありません。ただし英作文で正しい語順を書く必要があるため、文を組み立てる練習は有効です。
英検4級のスピーキングテストと3級の面接は同じですか？
同じではありません。4級のスピーキングテストは任意で一次合否とは別に実施される一方、3級は二次の対面面接が試験に含まれます。公式の二次試験サンプルを確認してください。
Writingだけできれば一次試験は合格しますか？
3級一次はReading・Writing・Listeningを測定します。ライティングだけで合格を保証することはできません。公式の合否は各技能をもとに判定されます。
