1|Sharing Art Materials Between Schools

Many art projects require paints, brushes, or cameras that students use for only a short period. Some schools have introduced lending programs so that several classes can share expensive materials instead of purchasing a separate set for every project.

At one school, the program was announced during a large art exhibition. Almost all the cameras were borrowed on the first day, but regular demand later turned out to be much smaller. (18), staff began recording repeat loans and the types of projects for which students actually used the equipment.

Teachers also discovered that materials were sometimes returned in poor condition. Camera batteries needed checking, and some paint containers had been left open. (19), the school introduced simple care instructions and inspected materials before lending them to another class.

The school hopes to expand the program to nearby schools. However, transporting the materials and managing reservations will require more time and money. It plans to expand (20) it can maintain safe equipment and avoid reducing resources for existing lessons.

説明文2|Why Accurate Public Signs Matter

Public signs help people find libraries, clinics, and parks. They may also explain which paths are accessible to people who cannot use stairs. However, a sign becomes less helpful when it gives information that is no longer correct.

In one town, roadwork closed the shortest path to a community clinic. The printed signs and an online map still recommended the old route. Several visitors arrived at the closed gate. (21), town staff replaced the signs and added a link to the current official road information.

Not all visitors could use the online map. Some older residents preferred a paper guide, while others needed larger lettering. The town provided a simple printed route and clearer signs. (22), visitors could follow the updated directions without a smartphone.

Because construction schedules can change, staff must continue checking the signs. The town will add more translated versions (23) qualified reviewers are available to keep the directions accurate.

長文1|E-mail|Community Book Festival: Updated Program

To: Student Reading Teams

From: Lakeside Cultural Library

Subject: Arrangements for the student book festival

Thank you for joining our Student Book Festival on Saturday, April 17. Visitors may enter from 10:00 a.m. We originally planned to hold the presentations in the second-floor reading room. However, the lift beside that room will be repaired, so the presentations will take place in the ground-floor activity hall. The date and opening time remain unchanged.

Team representatives should arrive at 9:15 to collect name cards and attend a safety briefing. The library will supply display tables, ordinary electrical outlets, and book stands. If you need additional speakers or projectors, submit a request by April 9. An automatic email only confirms that your request was received. Technical staff will inspect the devices and send a separate approval.

Each group may include up to four student presenters. Visitors may watch short book presentations, but only trained students and approved supervisors may operate electrical equipment. Please avoid posting recordings or identifiable photographs of others online without their permission. The right to read a book in class does not authorize copying long passages of it for public distribution.

Please notify the office by April 12 if the number of presenters changes. Later changes may not be possible because the room and supervision schedule must be prepared beforehand. We will email the final program on April 14.

問24

長文2|Article|How Can Night Markets Remain Useful?

Night markets can give residents a place to buy food and crafts after ordinary shops close. They may support small businesses and help people who work during the day. However, staying open later creates costs for stall owners, security staff, cleaning teams, and transport services.

One town ran a night market for six weeks. Its opening evening attracted a large crowd because a music performance was held nearby. Later evenings were quieter, but some regular customers continued visiting. Organizers measured repeat visits and actual purchases rather than using the opening-night crowd as proof of long-term demand.

Accessibility was another concern. A narrow path between two stalls became difficult for visitors using wheelchairs and parents pushing children in strollers. The town moved the stalls farther apart and placed clearer signs near a step-free entrance. It also checked bus departure times so people could travel home after the market closed.

Some vendors offered online orders for collection at the market. At first, their automatic messages said an order was received, but customers assumed that the goods were already ready to collect. Sellers introduced a separate ready-for-collection message and improved stock records to prevent unnecessary trips.

The town eventually decided to keep the market open on selected evenings, while studying whether longer opening hours were financially reasonable. Officials considered operating expenses, visitor safety, public transport, and the experiences of shoppers and sellers. A large number of online orders alone could not explain the market’s overall value.

問28

Why was the opening night’s crowd not reliable evidence of usual demand?

  1. The market had no stalls.
  2. Every shop was closed that evening.
  3. The town charged no transport fees.
  4. A nearby music performance attracted additional visitors.

A:Stalls were moved apart and clearer step-free signs were added.。The narrow route was widened for wheelchair and stroller users.

問30

What did vendors do to reduce unnecessary collection trips?

  1. They stopped receiving every online order.
  2. They removed stock information.
  3. They sent a separate message when goods were ready.
  4. They raised the bus fare.

  4. Ignore the needs of sellers and visitors.

Writing Part 4|

Some communities lend portable art equipment, such as drawing tablets and digital cameras, to residents who want to try creative activities. Borrowing allows people to explore different tools without buying expensive devices immediately. Community centers may also hold short lessons that help beginners learn how to use the equipment.

However, shared devices need inspection, cleaning, and repairs. Batteries and screens can become damaged, and popular tools may not be available when several people want them at the same time. Staff also need to remove personal files left on devices before another person borrows them.

To keep the service useful, centers can set clear booking rules, provide safety instructions, and check equipment after each return. They should compare demand, maintenance costs, and successful learning activities before expanding their collections.

Community art-equipment loans let residents try creative tools without purchasing expensive devices and may include lessons for beginners. However, shared items require inspection and cleaning, can be damaged or unavailable, and may contain personal files. Centers can manage bookings, teach safe use, check returns, and evaluate costs and demand before expanding.

Writing Part 5|

TOPIC:Do you think schools should teach students how to check whether online information is trustworthy?

I think schools should teach students how to check online information. First, inaccurate information can lead to poor decisions. For example, a student might follow an old transport notice and arrive at a closed bus stop. Second, checking sources helps students think critically about numbers and claims. A survey of one small club cannot represent every student at school. Teachers could show how to compare official updates, examine dates, and explain uncertainty. These skills are useful for homework and everyday life. With practice, students can share information more responsibly and avoid misleading others.
