説明文1|Why Schools Test Shared Sports Equipment
Some schools lend sports equipment so students can try activities without purchasing everything themselves. A pupil may borrow a badminton racket or a helmet for a short course, and the school can use the same items with different groups.
One school opened a lending service during a sports festival. Nearly every racket was borrowed that day, but demand fell during the following ordinary weeks. (18), teachers began recording repeated loans instead of assuming the festival’s popularity would continue throughout the year.
Staff also discovered that some returned helmets had broken straps. A few learners were unsure how to adjust equipment correctly. (19), the school introduced inspections after every return and short fitting demonstrations before loans.
The school wants to add more equipment, but storage space, cleaning, and repairs cost money. It will expand the collection (20) it can maintain safe items and still support other school activities.

説明文2|Local Food Markets and Better Information
Farmers’ markets often help people buy food from local producers. Some markets now let shoppers check product information online before visiting. These pages can show which vegetables are available and when stalls will open.
However, stocks can change quickly. One market’s website showed that strawberries were available even after the final boxes had been sold. Some customers made unnecessary trips. (21), sellers began updating the listings when stock changed and adding the time of each update.
Not everyone used the website. Some older customers preferred to call the information desk, and others needed larger printed notices near the stalls. (22), the market offered telephone assistance and clearer signs as alternatives to digital updates.
Staff are considering a reservation service but know that it will require careful records. They plan to launch it (23) vendors can distinguish a received request from an order that is ready for collection.

長文1|E-mail|International Book Exchange Project
To: Student Reading Clubs
From: Community Language Library
Subject: Book exchange dates and shipping rules
Thank you for joining the International Book Exchange Project. Participating clubs will send short books and reading notes to partner schools abroad. The exchange meeting will take place on Saturday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. We originally planned to meet in the upstairs reading room, but the lift is being repaired. We will use the ground-floor meeting hall instead. The date and starting time remain unchanged.
Club leaders should arrive by 9:15. The library will provide packing materials and address labels. Each group may send up to six books, but they must submit a list of titles and approximate weights by March 5. An automatic reply confirms receipt of the list, not approval of every item. Staff will check shipping restrictions and send a separate confirmation.
Please do not include photographs of students, personal addresses, or other private information in reading notes without the appropriate permission. Library staff will review the notes before packing. Clubs may write about their favorite stories, but must avoid copying long passages from published books.
If you need to change your group’s number of representatives, notify the office by March 8. Later changes may be refused because the room and shipping arrangements have to be finalized. We will send the final instructions on March 10.

- The ground floor is too small.
- The books cannot be carried outdoors.
A:The lift to the planned reading room is under repair.。The lift repair causes a venue change, not a time change.

長文2|Article|Should Towns Use Less Light at Night?
Many cities are concerned about artificial light reaching places where birds, insects, and other animals live. Some species need dark conditions to feed or move between habitats. Towns have begun experimenting with lights that point toward walking paths instead of trees or riverbanks.
However, it would not be safe to turn off every light. Pedestrians need to see crossings and steps, especially when it rains. A town therefore tested shielded lamps along one park route, measuring brightness at the ground and near the trees. Researchers also recorded how many people used the path after dark.
After the lamps were adjusted, students observed more insects near some bushes. The research team did not claim that the lighting change alone caused the increase. Temperature and rainfall had also changed. They repeated the survey under similar conditions before presenting their findings to the public.
Residents expressed different preferences. Some wanted brighter lighting near a bicycle crossing, while others requested darker areas beside a nesting site. Planners moved two lamps slightly and installed clearer signs to keep pedestrians away from the sensitive area. They also considered electricity use and maintenance expenses.
Officials recommended judging the project through safe access, actual wildlife activity, and long-term costs rather than counting how many lamps were replaced. They planned to continue the trial until they had information from several seasons.
問28
Why can’t all park lights simply be turned off?
- Pedestrians need safe visibility at crossings and steps.
- Every animal prefers bright lights.
- Trees cannot grow without streetlights.
- No people use parks at night.

- They removed every bicycle crossing.
- They closed all paths permanently.
- They moved two lamps and improved signs.
- They replaced every tree with concrete.

Writing Part 4|
Some schools use small indoor gardens to help students learn about plant growth. Students can observe how light, water, and temperature affect different vegetables. These activities make science lessons more practical and give students experience collecting information over time.
However, indoor gardens require electricity, water, suitable equipment, and supervision. If lighting is not adjusted carefully, energy costs can increase. Some plants may also become weak when temperatures change or soil dries quickly.
To manage these challenges, schools can measure electricity use and soil moisture, choose suitable plants, and create clear maintenance schedules. They should compare learning benefits with costs before installing more gardens.
Indoor school gardens make science lessons practical and help students observe plant growth over time. However, lighting, water, equipment, and supervision create costs, while unsuitable conditions can harm plants. Schools can monitor electricity and soil moisture, choose appropriate plants, and plan maintenance before expanding their gardens.
Writing Part 5|
TOPIC:Do you think schools should teach students how to protect personal information online?
I think schools should teach students how to protect personal information online. First, students often use digital homework services, so they need to understand passwords and account security. Sharing one password with friends can expose private files. Second, these lessons help students make better decisions about photographs and recordings. For example, a class may need permission before posting another student’s picture publicly. Teachers could use simple exercises about privacy settings and checking who can view information. With regular practice, students can enjoy online learning while reducing unnecessary risks to themselves and others.
