  • not until / only after / onceなどは時点や条件を表し、実施済みの証明ではない。

Task:Summarize the passage in 90–110 English words. Preserve the sequence of events and do not invent causal links.

Paragraph 1:A fictional town launched a program that allowed residents to borrow reusable containers for takeaway food. Organizers hoped that fewer single-use packages would eventually need disposal. Before the program began, several restaurants had already agreed to provide collection points. In the first month, the number of loans grew, and town officials welcomed the response as a sign of interest. However, they had not established how many disposable packages were actually avoided.

Paragraph 2:During the trial, the organizers encountered unexpected problems. Some containers were returned late, others required additional cleaning, and a few collection points lacked storage space. Restaurant owners requested simpler procedures, while environmental groups argued that the additional costs should be considered alongside potential waste reduction. The two sides did not agree on every detail, but both supported further evaluation rather than immediate abandonment.

Paragraph 3:After reviewing these concerns, the town introduced clearer return instructions and a limited number of collection locations. The revised process was tested for a further period. Only after costs, actual returns, and disposal outcomes could be compared would the council consider permanent expansion. Officials also noted that a rise in container loans did not necessarily mean a proportional reduction in waste.

Paragraph 4:The council therefore decided to continue the trial without committing to long-term subsidies. Its next report would distinguish participation, the practical performance of the system, and any measurable change in discarded packaging.

Task:Summarize the passage in 90–110 English words. Preserve the sequence of events and do not invent causal links.

Paragraph 1:A fictional regional learning center offered free evening classes for residents studying English and mathematics. Before the first evaluation, the center had already extended opening hours on two days of the week. Staff reported that attendance rose after the extension, and several participants said the new schedule was convenient. An administrator suggested that the longer hours were responsible for the rise, but the evaluation team pointed out that a new advertising campaign had begun at about the same time.

Paragraph 2:While the center continued its classes, reviewers interviewed residents who did not attend. Some could not reach the building easily, whereas others preferred online materials or worked during the revised hours. The reviewers did not assume that everyone who was absent lacked interest in learning. They also examined whether regular attendees improved on unfamiliar tasks rather than simply returning more frequently.

Paragraph 3:Following the interviews, the center tested a small number of online support sessions and adjusted the timetable for one additional class. These changes were not implemented throughout the entire region. Once the next round of results became available, the governing board planned to compare participation, learning outcomes, staff workload, and travel barriers before deciding on expansion.

Paragraph 4:The board ultimately retained the limited trial. It welcomed the earlier rise in attendance but acknowledged that the effect of longer opening hours had not been isolated from the advertising campaign. Permanent funding for the new arrangements therefore remained undecided.

Task:Summarize the passage in 90–110 English words. Preserve the sequence of events and do not invent causal links.

Paragraph 1:A fictional network of public libraries developed a shared catalog to help readers search for resources held in different districts. The participating libraries had agreed on basic data formats before the catalog became available. After its release, online searches increased rapidly, and several branches reported fewer requests for assistance with routine searches. Supporters argued that the system could make access to resources more convenient, but the initial report did not establish whether people who had previously struggled to find materials were now better served.

Paragraph 2:During the following months, staff discovered that some records described outdated editions and that duplicate entries occasionally confused users. Library specialists proposed a review procedure, while software contractors warned that extensive manual checks could delay updates. Both groups accepted that inaccurate records needed attention, but they differed over how much time to devote to verification.

Paragraph 3:The network subsequently tested automatic duplicate alerts combined with human checks of disputed entries. The board planned to evaluate the revised process once enough examples had been reviewed. It had not yet authorized the same procedures in every branch. Reviewers requested information about actual successful searches, staff time, accessibility, and how frequently errors were corrected.

Paragraph 4:The network continued operating while the new verification method was assessed. The board welcomed growing searches as evidence of interest, not as proof that every user had obtained reliable information. Permanent adoption of the revised procedure would depend on further findings.

A town introduced reusable takeaway containers, hoping to reduce disposable packaging. Restaurants had agreed to collection points before the program began, and initial loans increased, but avoided waste remained unmeasured. During the trial, late returns, cleaning needs, and storage limits created difficulties. Restaurant owners requested simpler procedures, while environmental groups wanted costs assessed alongside possible benefits. The town subsequently revised return instructions and tested a smaller collection system. Rather than approve permanent expansion, the council continued the trial and planned to compare actual returns, operating expenses, and disposal outcomes. Higher loan totals alone could not demonstrate proportional waste reduction.

A regional learning center extended evening hours before its first evaluation, and attendance subsequently increased. However, reviewers noted that an advertising campaign began around the same time, so the effect of longer hours remained uncertain. While classes continued, interviews with nonparticipants revealed transport, scheduling, and learning-preference barriers. Reviewers also sought evidence of improved understanding rather than repeat attendance alone. The center then tested limited online support and another timetable adjustment. The board retained the trial without approving permanent funding. Further expansion would depend on learning outcomes, access, staffing, and costs once additional evidence became available.

Public libraries agreed on data formats before introducing a shared catalog, after which online searches increased. Some branches reported fewer routine requests, but wider access for previously underserved readers was not established. Staff later found outdated records and duplicate entries. Librarians proposed reviewing them, whereas contractors warned that extensive manual checks might delay updates. The network then tested automatic alerts combined with targeted human review, without approving universal adoption. Evaluators would examine successful searches, accessibility, staff time, and correction rates. The catalog remained in operation, but permanent use of the revised verification process depended on further evidence rather than search totals.

FAQ
