たとえば「This is important because it is important.」 反対に「The policy should be judged by whether it improves access.」

  • 主張の範囲:all / most / some / may / shouldの違いを保つ。

1|Should cities invest more in preventive maintenance of public infrastructure?

Cities should generally invest more in preventive maintenance of public infrastructure rather than waiting for equipment and buildings to fail. Such investment can protect public budgets, maintain essential services, and reduce avoidable disruption. However, preventive maintenance should not replace every new construction project.

First, regular inspections can identify damage before repairs become urgent and expensive. A small defect in a water system may be easier to address than a major failure that interrupts service across a neighborhood. This could allow cities to use limited funding more effectively.

Second, maintenance helps protect residents who depend on public facilities. Schools, transport systems, and health centers serve people who may have few realistic alternatives. Although inspections cannot eliminate every risk, planned repairs may prevent some interruptions and allow residents to prepare for necessary closures.

Third, maintaining usable buildings can reduce unnecessary waste. Replacing entire structures may discard materials that could still serve their purpose. Nevertheless, an unsafe or highly inefficient building may require replacement, so officials should compare long-term operating costs and environmental impacts.

Admittedly, some communities need additional facilities because their populations are growing. New capacity can therefore be justified alongside repair work.

On balance, preventive maintenance deserves greater priority when it can preserve safe and reliable services at a reasonable cost. The objective should be dependable public infrastructure, not the preservation of every existing building regardless of its condition.

For these reasons型を強制せず、On balanceで利害を考慮した結論へ接続しました。

模範2|Should schools require students to learn how to evaluate online information?

Schools should teach all students how to evaluate online information. The ability to distinguish reliable evidence from misleading claims is important not only for examinations but also for everyday decisions. In principle, this skill should be included in ordinary education rather than treated as an optional activity.

First, students encounter information through search results, videos, and social networks. A familiar headline or popular post does not necessarily provide accurate evidence. Teaching learners to identify sources and examine comparisons could reduce careless acceptance of unsupported statements.

Second, evaluating evidence helps students discuss disagreements respectfully. Instead of assuming that people with different opinions are dishonest, students can ask which observations support each position. Such discussions may also reveal where uncertainty remains.

Third, these skills can support independent judgment after graduation. Adults often make choices involving contracts, health information, and public policies. Understanding the difference between a prediction and a verified outcome can help them assess claims more carefully.

Admittedly, schools already have crowded schedules. However, short evidence-checking exercises could be integrated into existing language, science, and social studies lessons rather than requiring an entirely separate subject.

For these reasons, schools should make information evaluation an essential skill. The goal is not to teach students what to think, but to help them explain why a claim deserves trust.
