I see your point./That’s a good idea.(相手の考えを理解したことを示す)
I agree because …/I understand, but …(根拠を短く示す)
Could we …?/What if we …?(折衷案や実行可能な選択肢を出す)
So we agree to …/I’ll do …(合意内容・役割を確認する)

I see your point about …
However, I’m concerned that … because …
Could we try … instead?/What if we …?

A: I think our class should start a book-sharing shelf. Students could exchange books they have already read. B: That’s a good idea. We could also write short comments about each book. C: I agree with both ideas. Maybe we should put the shelf near the classroom door so it is easy to find.

  3. How does C respond to the ideas?
  4. Where does C suggest putting the shelf?
  5. Give a phrase to show you understand before adding an idea.
  6. Why is ‘That’s stupid’ unhelpful in a discussion?

A: We should make every club meeting last two hours. B: I understand why you want more time, but some students have other responsibilities. Could we try a shorter meeting first? C: Perhaps we could meet for sixty minutes and review the plan after two weeks. A: That sounds fair. Let’s test it and ask everyone for feedback.

What if we clean one area near the river and put up a small sign there? A: That combines the two ideas. B: I agree, as long as we check with the teacher before putting up the sign.

  1. What does A suggest first?
  2. What is B’s preferred idea?
  3. Why can’t they do both projects separately?
  4. What combined plan does C propose?
  5. What condition does B add?
  6. What question helps a group compare options?
  7. What should the group agree on before starting?
  8. Why is a compromise not always the same as choosing the first suggestion?

A: We have three suggestions: create a poster, give a short talk, or share information online. B: We have only one week, and not everyone can stay after school. C: Then let’s create a poster during class and give a two-minute talk at the end. We can share a digital copy with students who are absent. A: Good. I will draft the poster. B: I will check the facts. C: I will prepare the short talk.

  1. How many suggestions are listed at first?
  2. What limits the group’s choices?
