結論
previousは一つ前・以前のもの、lastは最後・前回、latestは現時点の最新版、recentは近い過去のものです。最新版・承認済み・前回のファイルは必ずしも一致せず、学校連絡の更新履歴では版番号と日付を照合する必要があります。

4つの文法・語法基準
1. previous version：現在の直前・一つ前の版。Version 4が現行ならVersion 3がprevious。
2. last page / last meeting：最後のページ、前回の会議。lastは文脈で指す範囲が変わる。
3. latest notice / latest version：現在最も新しい案内・版。latestだから自動的に承認済みとは限らない。
4. recent change：近い過去の変更。latestは最も新しい一つ、recentは近頃の複数件にも使う。

The latest version was uploaded this morning.｜最新版は今朝アップロードされた。
The previous timetable had the wrong date.｜一つ前の時間割には日付の誤りがあった。

初見Read
The school council wrote a guide for a festival. Version 1 was written on Monday, Version 2 was uploaded on Wednesday, and Version 3 appeared on Friday with a new entrance map. One student printed Version 2 because he had downloaded it at the previous meeting. Another checked the latest notice and found that the entrance had changed. The teacher explained that a recent message could still contain information from an older draft. Every volunteer had to check both the version number and the approval status before entering the hall. The club learned that the last file someone downloaded was not always the latest approved version.
