allow・permit・authorizeは許可を表し、letも『〜させる』意味で使えます。ただし目的語の後ろの形が違います。allow/permit/authorize＋人＋to不定詞に対し、let＋人＋動詞原形です。意味の強さだけで機械的に区別せず、文脈・誰が権限を持つか・文法形を確認してください。

1. allow O to do／permit O to do／authorize O to doはいずれも形として可能。permitはやや正式、authorizeは権限に基づく明示的な承認を表す傾向がある。
2. let O doはtoを入れない。My parents let me go. をlet me to goにしない。
3. allow doing／permit doingは『その行為を許す』のように人を明示しない形で使える。authorize doingも可能な文脈はあるが、授業ではauthorize O to doをまず覚える。
4. be allowed to do／be permitted to do、be authorized to doなど受動形を確認する。letをそのまま受動にすることは普通避けられる。
