NEW TREASURE Stage4・5のRead・研究レポート・ニュース英文でhas yet to do / has yet to be done / remains to be seenを見つけたら、「すでに済んだ」と誤読しないことが大切です。They have yet to decide. は「まだ決めていない」、The schedule has yet to be announced. は「日程はまだ発表されていない」、It remains to be seen whether the plan works. は「計画がうまくいくかはまだ分からない」です。高校生向けに慶英会独自40問と2つの英文資料、全解答・全文和訳を掲載します。

have yet to・be yet to・remain to be seenの違い

Cambridge Dictionaryでは have yet to と be yet to を比較的改まった文脈での未実施・未到達を表す形として説明しています。have yet to do は、have＋yet＋to不定詞であり、has yet done や has yet finished のようにしてはいけません。
『未発表』と『今後必ず発表される』は同義ではない
has yet to announce は「現時点では未発表」という事実に焦点を当てます。多くの場合、後の発表が想定されていますが、記事本文に日付・責任者・決定時点が書かれていないなら追加してはいけません。事実の記述と将来の期待を分けて読んでください。
remain to be seenは『誰かが見に行く』ではない
It remains to be seen whether the new method is effective. は直訳の「まだ見られる」ではなく、有効性の判断が未確定であることを示します。受動態の形を取り、whether節・疑問詞節で未決着の論点を述べることがよくあります。
yetとalready・stillの区別
The decision has already been made. は決定済み、The decision has not yet been made. は未決定、The decision has yet to be made. も未決定という意味です。We still have work to do. は作業が残っている状態です。時点と完了の有無を確認します。

The draft plan can be read online, but the final timetable is not yet available.

よくある質問
Q. Have yet toは肯定文の形でも否定の意味ですか？
はい。have yet to do は形の上ではnotを置いていなくても、現時点でまだ実行していないという意味です。
Q. Yet to be announcedは『発表される予定がない』ですか？
いいえ。「現時点で未発表」を表します。今後絶対に発表されないとは意味しません。発表予定の有無は別に確認が必要です。
Q. It remains to be seenは受動態ですか？
to be seen は受動の不定詞ですが、構文全体は「今後の評価・結果がまだ分からない」という慣用的な意味です。
Q. Has yet toは現在完了has not yet doneといつでも置換できますか？
多くの文脈では未完了という点を保てますが、語調や想定の違いがあります。has yet to do は比較的改まった文章で使われます。
