4つの文脈で使い分ける
now that＋節 今はその状況になったので、という変化後の現状を理由にする。
in that＋節 unusual・different・limitedなどの特徴が具体的に「どの点で」そうなのかを説明する。
seeing that＋節 事情を踏まえると／〜なので、と判断を導く。
given that＋節 〜という事実を考慮すると、と判断の前提や限界を示す。

Science exhibition：展示の裏付け（架空の独自英文）
The students spent three weeks preparing a science exhibition about water use. Now that their first draft was complete, the teacher asked them to check the evidence behind every claim. The project was unusual in that it compared two similar school buildings rather than two different cities. One building had newer taps, while the other still used older ones. Seeing that the water meter readings varied greatly from day to day, the group decided not to claim that the taps alone caused the difference. The buildings also had different numbers of visitors. Given that the group had collected data for only five days, the teacher recommended a longer observation period. By Friday, the students had corrected the labels and added a note about the limitations of their comparison. The exhibition opened the following Monday. Visitors could see how the students had improved their method, but the display did not claim to prove that one kind of tap would always save more water. The students realized that a convincing report should make its limits as clear as its results.

初見Readの全文和訳
生徒たちは水の使用量についての展示準備に三週間を費やした。初稿が完成したので、先生はすべての主張の裏付けを調べるよう求めた。企画は、別々の都市ではなく、似た二つの校舎を比較するという点で珍しかった。片方は新型の蛇口、もう片方は旧型だった。水道メーターの値が日によって大きく変わったので、蛇口だけが差を生んだとは主張しないことにした。校舎の訪問者数も違った。観察は5日間だけだったので、先生はもっと長く観察するよう勧めた。金曜日までに生徒は表示を訂正し、比較の限界を追記した。展示は翌月曜に始まった。来場者には方法の改善が分かったが、ある種類の蛇口が常に節水するとの証明は掲示しなかった。説得力ある報告では結果と同様に限界を明確にするべきだと学んだ。

間違えやすいポイントと復習
in thatをすべてbecauseに置き換えると「特徴の具体化」が失われます。now thatは現在の状況の変化を受けた理由、given thatは特に判断の前提となる事実を導くと整理してください。調査結果では「データがある」と「原因が証明された」を混同しないことが重要です。
1日目は和訳1〜4、2日目は和訳5〜8、3日目は書換9〜14、4日目は初見Readを読み質問15〜20を解いてください。5日目に全文和訳の主語・時点・条件を照合し、6日目に学校の指定Readの同じ文法機能を探します。7日目は誤答のみを解答を見ずに再テストします。正しい語だけでなく、その文脈で選ぶ理由を説明できることを完成基準にしてください。
