3つの基礎ポイント
at firstは後に変化したこととの対比が自然です。At first the club opposed the idea.は当初反対したこと、最終的な態度は次の文で確認します。
first of allは「まず第一に」と手順・論点を列挙します。最初の項目を述べても、その作業を実際に行ったかは別です。
for the first timeはその経験が初めてであること。The room opened for the first time in April.は4月に初開室したことを表します。

Original Reading: The school photography club decided to create a digital exhibition of local buildings. At first, several members preferred a printed album because they had never used the school’s online exhibition platform. The teacher suggested trying a small digital display before choosing the final format. First of all, the group needed to verify the rights to every photograph. Next, it would organize the pictures by date and write short captions. Mina was responsible for arranging the first training session, and she used the publishing platform for the first time on Monday. The interface was unfamiliar, and she made several mistakes while adding captions. At first, she believed that changing an image title would also change the date recorded in the archive, but the librarian explained that the two pieces of information were stored separately. After practicing, Mina successfully uploaded three approved photographs. The students compared the online version with a printed sample. By the following Friday, some members who had originally preferred paper began to support a combined exhibition. The team decided to display a few printed photographs with QR codes leading to the longer online explanations. 全文和訳
学校の写真部は地域建築物の電子展示を作ろうとした。当初、複数の部員は学校の展示用オンラインシステムを使った経験がなく、紙のアルバムを好んだ。教師は最終形式を決める前に小さな電子展示を試すよう勧めた。まず全写真の利用権を確認し、次に日付順に整理し短い説明文を書く必要があった。初回研修を担当したミナは月曜に初めて公開システムを使った。操作は不慣れで説明文を加えるときに誤りをいくつか犯した。最初、画像の題名を変えると資料室の記録日付も変わると思ったが、司書は二つが別々に保存されていると説明した。練習後、ミナは許可済みの写真三枚をうまく掲載した。部は電子版と紙の見本を比較した。翌金曜までには、元々紙を好んだ部員の一部も併用型の展示を支持した。数枚の紙写真と、長いオンライン説明へつながるQRコードを置くことにした。報告書では当初の意見、作業手順の第一段階、初めて行った経験を区別した。初めての試みが完璧でなくても有益な学びにつながると述べた。
