① seemとappearの見え方
seemとappearは似た状況で使えることがあります。appearは事実・出来事の見え方、seemは個人の印象も含めて幅広く使われる傾向があります。ただし正しさの保証ではありません。
② turn out to beは「後で明らかになった」
The answer turned out to be incorrect. は確認した結果として間違いと分かった意味です。It turned out that the room was closed. というthat節にも言い換えられます。
③ seem・appearの後ろはto不定詞
The map seems to be correct. / There appears to be a problem. と使います。seems beやappears beingは基本形ではありません。seemは通常進行形is seemingにしません。
④ seem to have doneは推測より前の行動
She seems to have checked the figures. は過去に確認したようだという判断で、実際に確認済みであると保証しません。She has checked the figures. という事実報告とは意味が異なります。
⑤ 「見えた」「調べた」「判明した」を分ける
The sensor appeared to be working. は初期の判断です。After a test, its readings turned out to be inaccurate. なら後から確認できた結果です。Stage3の長文ではこの順序が設問の根拠になります。
⑥ 初見読解では因果を追加しない
不正確だったことが分かっても、その原因が何かは別の調査が必要です。確認された値と、まだ分からない原因を区別しましょう。

- Q1〜12：seem・appear・turn outの語順と意味。
