結論｜形容詞・職員名詞・性格名詞・副詞を区別

personal と personnel は発音と意味も違う

personalは個人に属するもの、personnelはスタッフ・従業員を指します。特に personal information と personnel records の違いを確認しましょう。personnelは通常集合的に人員を示し、3人を示すならthree staff membersが分かりやすい英語です。

personality と personally を混同しない

She has a friendly personality.は性格が親しみやすい、She personally checked the list.は本人が名簿を確認した、という意味です。Personallyが文頭なら話し手の立場を述べることが多く、Personally, I disagree.のように使います。性格という名詞personalityを同じ位置に置くことはできません。

初見Readで大切な情報の区別

Each student could read their own responses, but the public report used only totals and anonymous examples. Personally, the group leader thought the results might help teams divide tasks more fairly.
