no more thanは少なさや上限を、no less thanは多さを強調することがあります。倍数比較はtwice as＋形容詞・副詞＋as、比例変化はthe＋比較級…, the＋比較級…という構造で判断します。数字と比較対象を落とさず訳す練習が重要です。

まず確認する3つの基本ルール

1. no more than 20は「多くても20」「たった20」という文脈で用いられます。no less than 20は「少なくとも20」「なんと20も」の強調に使われます。ニュアンスは文脈で調整します。
2. twice as large as / three times as long asでは倍数がas … asの前です。muchやmanyは比較するものが不可算か可算かも確認します。
3. The more you read, the more you learnは前半と後半が相関する形。単なるthanを使う比較文とは構造が違います。

Two classes compared the results of a reading campaign. Class A had forty books, while Class B had eighty. The students in Class B said that they had twice as many books as Class A. The more carefully students recorded their reading time, the easier it became to compare their progress.
