結論｜collect・gather・record・reportの違い
- collect＋物・情報：We collected thirty survey forms.（調査票30枚を回収）。
- gather＋情報／gather in＋場所：We gathered information.／We gathered in the library.（情報を集める／人が集まる）。
- record＋数値・結果：We recorded the temperature.（温度を記録）。
- report＋内容＋to＋相手：We reported the results to the teacher.（結果を先生に報告）。
- 数値の意味：収集枚数・有効回答・集計人数・報告した結果の違いを確認する。
collectとgatherは収集する意味で自然に重なる場合があります。記録recordはデータを書き留める行動、報告reportは情報を人や組織に伝える行動です。報告をしただけで学校の方針が変わったとは言えません。

初見Read｜通学方法の調査と有効回答（問33〜40）
独自英文：The geography club at Ashwood School studied how students travelled to school. On Monday, the club collected thirty returned survey forms from three classes. The group gathered in the library and checked the forms. Five forms did not answer the transport question, so the students had usable answers from twenty-five students. They counted fifteen students who travelled by train and ten who walked. The club recorded these two numbers in a table and prepared a short graph. On Wednesday, the club leader reported the findings to the teacher. The teacher asked the group not to say that all thirty students had answered the transport question. The members corrected their draft report and wrote that twenty-five answers were used. 誤答を直す7日間の復習
- collect to the formsと書いたらcollect the forms。
- gather to the entranceと書いたらgather at the entrance。
- record about the figuresと書いたらrecord the figures。
- report the results with the teacherを標準形にするならreport the results to the teacher。
- 収集30枚と有効回答25件を混同しない。
- 1日目〜4日目は8問ずつ、5日目に初見Read、6日目に自分の学校の情報を『収集→記録→報告』で英作文、7日目に誤答を再テスト。
よくある質問
collectとgatherは同じですか？
情報や物を集める意味では重なります。gatherには人が集まるという意味もあります。
recordとreportはどう違いますか？
recordは後から確認できるよう書き残すこと、reportは結果を相手に知らせることです。
30人のアンケートがあれば有効回答は30ですか？
いいえ。質問に答えていない調査票があれば、有効回答は少なくなります。
reportedは承認された意味ですか？
いいえ。報告されたという意味で、採用・承認されたかは別です。
reportの後ろにtoは必要ですか？
結果だけならreport the results、報告相手を付けるならreport the results to the teacherなどとします。
