busy doingとbusy with＋名詞の違い
She is busy preparing for the test.では具体的な準備の動作を-ingで述べています。She is busy with test preparation.なら前置詞withの後に名詞句を置きます。busy preparingのingは常に現在進行形というわけではありません。be busyという形容詞句に、何に取り組んでいるかを付け足す形です。
have trouble／difficulty doingとfind it difficult to do
have trouble understandingとhave difficulty understandingは、いずれも理解に苦労している意味で使えます。Cambridge Dictionaryではhave difficulty doing、have difficulty in doingが説明されています。一方、find it difficult to understandは形式目的語itを用いる別の構文でto不定詞を使います。日本語訳が似ているからといって、文型まで同じにしないことが大切です。
spend time doingとIt takes 人 時間 to do
I spent two hours preparing the slides.とIt took me two hours to prepare the slides.はいずれも準備に2時間かかった内容ですが、使う主語と動詞の型は異なります。spendなら人＋spent＋時間＋-ing、takeならIt＋took＋人＋時間＋to不定詞。I spent two hours to prepare…と混同しないようにします。
can’t help doingとcan’t help to doは同じ意味ではない
「どうしても笑ってしまう」はI can’t help laughing.です。helpが一般動詞として「手伝う」という意味になるとhelp (to) doの別の構文があり得ます。can’t help doingという慣用表現と、help someone (to) doを区別しましょう。「helpがあるからtoでもingでも自由」という覚え方では誤答が残ります。

一文ごとに誤った語法・形を見つけ、全文を書き直します。英文によっては別の表現にすれば意味が通る場合もありますが、指定された日本語の意味を維持するようにしてください。

Q. I’m busy to studyは正しいですか。
A. 一般に「勉強するのに忙しい」の意味ではI’m busy studyingとします。ただしtoo busy to studyなら「忙しすぎて勉強できない」という別の構文でto不定詞が正しく使われます。busyの後には絶対にtoが置けない、と丸暗記しないことも重要です。
Q. have difficulty to doは使えますか。
A. この意味の定型表現ではhave difficulty doingが基本です。have difficulty in doingも使われます。「するのが難しいと感じる」ならfind it difficult to doの別構文が適切です。
Q. spend time doingとspend time onの違いは何ですか。
A. doingは行為を表し、onの後は主に名詞句が続きます。I spent an hour reading the article.とI spent an hour on the article.では、前者は読む行為が明確です。
