- 公式「特色」はMG(茗溪ジェネラル)・AC(アカデミア)などの教育方針を紹介しています。
主張をI think …で始め、First … Second …
A fictional junior high school library closes at four on weekdays. Some students want it to remain open until five because they need a quiet place to study after club activities. Others worry that librarians would have to work longer. In a survey of 60 students, 38 supported longer opening hours, 14 opposed the idea, and eight were unsure. The survey did not ask any staff members about their schedules. The student council suggested trying extended hours for two weeks and measuring how many students actually use the library during the extra hour.
- Q1. What is one key fact from the text? Answer the specific question: What time does the library currently close?
- Q2. Which evidence or number directly supports one claim? How many students supported longer opening hours?
- Q3. What is a limitation or missing condition? Why is the survey not enough to decide the plan?
- Q4. Give a clear position: Should the school try longer opening hours? Give one reason.
- Q5. Write a fair counterargument: Write one fair counterargument to your position.
- Q6. Write an 80-110 word English opinion paragraph. Include a position, two reasons, a counterargument, and a conclusion.
Students at a fictional school discussed two ways to learn about plants. Group A suggested growing vegetables in a school garden. This would allow students to observe changes over several months, but the garden would need daily care. Group B preferred using a digital simulation. Students could change the amount of sunlight and water in the simulation and see possible results quickly. However, these results would not always match real plants. The class agreed that both methods could be useful and that the best choice would depend on the learning goal and available time.
- Q7. What is one key fact from the text? Answer the specific question: What does Group A want students to do?
- Q8. Which evidence or number directly supports one claim? What is one advantage of the simulation?
- Q9. What is a limitation or missing condition? What is one limitation of using a simulation?
- Q10. Give a clear position: Which method would you recommend to a class studying plant growth?
- Q11. Write a fair counterargument: Give a reasonable argument for the other method.
- Q12. Write an 80-110 word English opinion paragraph with two reasons and a limitation.
A group of 50 students at a fictional school answered a survey about how they travel to school. Twenty-four said they usually walked, sixteen took a bus, and ten rode bicycles. The survey was carried out on a sunny Monday, and only one class participated. Some students wrote that most teenagers in the city walk to school. Their teacher explained that this conclusion was too strong. Walking was the most common method in the class, but fewer than half of the surveyed students walked. The results also could not represent every teenager in the city. The group decided to collect data from more schools.
- Q13. What is one key fact from the text? Answer the specific question: How many students took a bus?
- Q14. Which evidence or number directly supports one claim? What percentage of surveyed students walked?
- Q15. What is a limitation or missing condition? Why is the statement ‘most teenagers in the city walk to school’ not supported?
- Q16. Give a clear position: Should the town use this survey to decide transport policy immediately?
- Q17. Write a fair counterargument: Write a sentence showing a useful point about the survey despite its limits.
- Q18. Write an 80-110 word paragraph explaining how the survey could be improved.

A fictional school wants to offer more chances for students to communicate with people overseas. Some teachers support online exchange meetings because many students can join without traveling. Others prefer short overseas visits because students can experience daily life in another country. Online meetings cost less, but conversations may be interrupted by technical problems or differences in time zones. Overseas visits offer more direct experiences, but they require more money and careful planning. The school is considering a plan that uses online meetings throughout the year and offers an optional visit during vacation.
- Q19. What is one key fact from the text? Answer the specific question: What is one advantage of online meetings?
- Q20. Which evidence or number directly supports one claim? Why do some teachers prefer overseas visits?
- Q21. What is a limitation or missing condition? What is one difficulty of online communication?
- Q22. Give a clear position: Which option should the school prioritize for beginners?
- Q23. Write a fair counterargument: Write a fair counterargument supporting overseas visits.
- Q24. Write an 80-110 word English opinion paragraph recommending a balanced plan.
Students at a fictional school planned a food festival and wanted to avoid wasting food. Group A suggested preparing smaller portions and allowing visitors to ask for more. Group B wanted to collect advance orders online, which might make it easier to estimate how much food to prepare. However, visitors might change their minds or arrive without ordering. The class agreed to compare the amount of leftover food and the number of visitors who were satisfied with their meals. They also decided that reducing waste should not mean leaving people hungry. They planned to test both ideas at a smaller event first.
- Q25. What is one key fact from the text? Answer the specific question: What does Group A suggest?
- Q26. Which evidence or number directly supports one claim? What is the expected benefit of advance online orders?
- Q27. What is a limitation or missing condition? What could make online orders less reliable?
- Q28. Give a clear position: What two indicators should the class use to evaluate the plans?
- Q29. Write a fair counterargument: Explain why reducing food waste alone should not be the only goal.
- Q30. Write an 80-110 word English paragraph recommending how to test the two plans.

- Q1. At four on weekdays. —
- Q2. Thirty-eight.
- Q3. It did not ask staff members about their schedules. —
- Q4. Yes. Students who attend club activities could have a quiet place to study afterward. —
- Q5. However, keeping the library open may increase the workload of staff members. —
- Q6. I think our school should try keeping the library open until five for two weeks. First, students with club activities would have more time to study in a quiet place. Second, students who cannot study comfortably at home could use the library. However, librarians may need to work longer, so the school should ask them about their schedules before making a final decision. During the trial, the student council could count the number of visitors during the extra hour. If many students use the service and the staff agree, extending the opening hours would be worthwhile.
- Q7. Grow vegetables in a school garden.
- Q8. Students can change conditions and see possible results quickly. —
- Q9. Its results may not always match real plants. —
- Q10. I would recommend a school garden because students could observe real plants over time.
- Q11. A simulation could show the effects of many different conditions much faster. —
- Q12. I would recommend a school garden for students who want to understand how plants grow. First, real plants allow them to notice unexpected changes in leaves, roots, and weather conditions. Second, caring for plants can teach students responsibility and teamwork. A digital simulation is also useful because it lets students test different conditions quickly. However, simulated results may not be exactly the same as results in nature. If a school has enough space and time, students could grow plants and use a simulation to compare their observations. Combining both methods would make the learning experience stronger.
- Q13. Sixteen. —
- Q14. Forty-eight percent. — 24÷50×100=48%です。
- Q15. Only one class was surveyed, and walking accounted for less than half. —
- Q16. No. The sample is too small and does not represent other schools. —
- Q17. However, the survey still shows that walking was the most common choice among the 50 students asked. —
- Q18. I do not think this survey is enough to decide how teenagers travel across the city. First, the students asked only one class, so their results may not reflect students in other schools. Second, the survey was conducted on one sunny day, and travel choices might change during heavy rain. However, the results are still useful for understanding that particular class. I would ask students from several schools and repeat the survey in different seasons. I would also compare how far they live from school. With these changes, the group could make a more reliable report.
- Q19. More students can participate without traveling. —
- Q20. Students can experience daily life in another country. —
- Q21. Technical problems or differences in time zones. —
- Q22. Online meetings, because they allow more students to practice with lower costs. —
- Q23. However, visiting another country can offer experiences that online meetings cannot fully provide. —
- Q24. I think the school should offer online exchange meetings regularly and make overseas visits optional. First, online meetings are less expensive, so more students can practice speaking with people from other countries. Second, students can build confidence before they travel. Overseas visits still have an important advantage because students can experience another country’s daily life directly. However, they may be too expensive for some families. The school could begin with online exchanges for everyone and offer a short voluntary trip during vacation. This plan would give students more opportunities while respecting different budgets and learning needs.

- Q27. Visitors might change their minds or come without ordering. —
- Q28. Leftover food and the number of satisfied visitors. —
- Q29. Because visitors should have enough to eat, and satisfaction also matters. —
- Q30. I would recommend testing both plans at a small school event before choosing one. First, students should measure the amount of food left over after the event. Second, they should ask visitors whether the portions were large enough and whether they enjoyed the meals. Online orders might help the cooks predict demand, but some visitors may change their minds. Smaller portions could reduce waste, but the school must allow people to ask for more food. After collecting both kinds of information, students can compare the results and select a plan that reduces waste without making visitors unhappy.
