どんな生徒に必要か
学校の案内図や施設紹介、会話の道案内で「隣・向かい・間・裏側」を逆に読んで失点する生徒に向けた教材です。絵や地図を暗記するのではなく、英文そのものから位置関係を判断する練習です。ここで登場する施設の位置関係はすべて架空で、実際の学校の校内図ではありません。
位置関係を読み取る4手順
- 位置を説明されている人・物を特定する。
- 前置詞句の後ろの基準となる施設を探す。
- betweenは二つの基準、next toは隣、oppositeは向かい、behindは後ろと分ける。
- 左右の位置は本文の基準から読む。実際の地図がない場合、本文にない配置を勝手に補わない。
例：The gym is behind the building.＝体育館は校舎の裏。The garden is between the gym and the pool.＝庭は体育館とプールの間。二つを単なる『近い』にまとめると必要な情報を失います。
