if necessaryは『必要なら』、if possibleは『可能なら』、if soは『そうなら』、if notは『そうでなければ』です。 これらはifの後にある言葉が省略された短い条件表現として使われ、学校の案内・課題提出メール・英検の会話や英文でよく見られます。独自の10場面30問で意味と元の節を復元します。

4つの意味と省略を整理
if necessary＝if it is necessary、if possible＝if it is possible、if so＝if that is the case、if not＝if that is not the case、という意味を文脈から補えます。『必要だから行う』のか『可能であれば行う』のかは同じではありません。またif so／if notは直前の問いや説明を受けます。
