However, anyone who wants a printed set of example speeches must pay 300 yen. Please tell the organisers by Thursday noon if you cannot attend. 第2英文|10分読書と語彙の記憶(読書習慣の説明文)

A student reading group wanted to find out whether short reading sessions helped teenagers remember English words. Forty students agreed to join, but only thirty-six completed the two-week comparison. In the first week, they read English stories for ten minutes each weekday. In the second week, they read a different story for fifty minutes on Sunday. Both schedules provided fifty minutes of reading. At the end of each week, participants answered twenty vocabulary questions. Twenty-one students performed better after Week 1, ten scored the same in both weeks, and five performed better after Week 2. Some students said that short daily reading was always better. Their teacher asked them not to decide so quickly. The stories had not been checked for equal difficulty, and the second week came later, after some students had already learned useful words. The group decided to use similar texts and to check how many words students remembered after seven days. They wanted a study method that supported long-term learning rather than only immediate quiz results.

Q12. How much time did students spend reading in Week 1?

Q14. How many students scored the same in both weeks?

(A) Twenty-one. (B) Five. (C) Ten. (D) Thirty-six.

Q15. Why did the teacher question the conclusion?

(A) The texts might not have been equally difficult. (B) Students had studied for different total times. (C) Nobody finished the comparison. (D) The tests had different numbers of questions.

Q16. What additional measurement did the group plan?

(A) Vocabulary retention after seven days. (B) The colour of the reading room. (C) Students’ handwriting speed. (D) The number of library shelves.

Q17. Which claim is best supported by the passage?

(A) Every student preferred Week 1. (B) Short daily reading always produces higher scores. (C) The comparison needs better controls before a general rule can be made. (D) Long Sunday reading has no benefit at all.

慶英会独自の追加根拠記述3問:

Q18. How many students scored better in Week 1 than in Week 2?

第3英文|デジタル案内と実際の利用者(ICTと情報分析)

A student team designed an English guide for visitors to a public museum. Their first version contained long sentences and was shared on a tablet near the entrance. In a test with twenty visitors, only twelve found the correct exhibition room without help. The students then changed the guide to shorter instructions, added a simple map and made the important arrows larger. In the second test, seventeen of another twenty visitors reached the room correctly. The team believed the changes had improved the guide, but the museum manager pointed out that different people had taken part in the two tests. The first test was also held during a busy afternoon, while the second was held on a quieter morning. Before using the guide permanently, the team planned to test both versions at similar times and ask visitors which words they found confusing. They also decided to offer printed directions for people who preferred not to use the tablet. Their aim was to help real visitors rather than simply make the guide look modern.

(A) The museum never tested a new guide. (B) Different visitors and different crowd levels were involved. (C) No visitors used the second design. (D) The two versions were exactly the same.

Q25. What did the team plan before using the guide permanently?

(A) Closing the museum for a month. (B) Removing all signs from the entrance. (C) Asking visitors to remember the guide. (D) Testing both versions under similar conditions.

Q26. Why will the team provide printed directions?

(A) Some visitors may prefer not to use a tablet. (B) The tablets contain no English text. (C) Everyone must pay for paper. (D) Printed guides are required by a new law.

Q27. What was the team’s overall goal?

(A) Selling new tablets to the museum. (B) Helping visitors find places easily. (C) Winning an art competition. (D) Collecting more information than visitors need.

第4英文|海外交流で質問を調べる(学校間交流・説明文)

A school exchange club organised two online discussions about daily life in different countries. Thirty-six students registered, and twenty-eight joined at least one meeting. However, only twenty-two students completed the club’s follow-up survey. Of those twenty-two, fourteen said they preferred shorter meetings with more time for questions. Eight preferred longer discussions with fewer changes of topic. Some club members wanted to write that most of the original thirty-six students preferred shorter meetings. The teacher explained that this statement was not supported by the survey because fourteen responses came from only twenty-two students. The group also realised that some absent students might have had different opinions. For the next exchange, they planned to contact more participants and ask why students preferred a particular meeting style. They also agreed to ask permission before sharing screenshots of a video call or publishing anyone’s name. The organisers hoped that this would make their future discussions more useful and respectful.

Q31. How many students originally registered?

(A) Twenty-eight. (B) Twenty-two. (C) Fourteen. (D) Thirty-six.

Q32. How many joined at least one meeting?

(A) Twenty-eight. (B) Twenty-two. (C) Thirty-six. (D) Eight.

Q34. How many survey respondents preferred shorter meetings?

(A) Fourteen. (B) Eight. (C) Twenty-two. (D) Thirty-six.

Q35. Why was the proposed claim about all registered students unsupported?

(A) All registered students answered. (B) The survey had no questions about meetings. (C) The survey included only twenty-two respondents. (D) Everyone attended both meetings.

Q36. What additional information will the club ask for next time?

(A) The price of museum tickets. (B) Reasons behind students’ preferences. (C) Students’ home addresses. (D) The number of computers at school.

Q37. What must organisers do before sharing screenshots or names?

(A) Delete all meeting questions. (B) Translate every name into English. (C) Charge a fee for each screenshot. (D) Ask for permission.

慶英会独自の追加根拠記述3問:

Q38. How many survey respondents preferred longer discussions?
