と、可能性を述べるThis may suggest…

Our science group investigated whether water temperature affected how quickly sugar dissolved. We prepared two glasses with 100 milliliters of water in each. Glass A contained water at 15 degrees Celsius, while Glass B contained water at 40 degrees Celsius. We added ten grams of sugar to each glass and stirred both for the same number of turns. We measured the time until no sugar crystals were visible. In our trial, the sugar dissolved in Glass A after 130 seconds and in Glass B after 40 seconds. We observed that the sugar dissolved faster in warmer water. However, we knew that a single trial could not show exactly how temperature affects every kind of substance. We decided to repeat the test three times and record all measurements before writing a conclusion.

  1. What was the main variable that the group changed?
  2. How much water was used in each glass?
  3. How much sugar was added to each glass?
  4. Which glass had warmer water?
  5. How long did the sugar take to dissolve in Glass A?
  6. How many seconds faster was Glass B in this trial?
  7. Can a single trial prove how every substance behaves?
  8. Write one English conclusion using ‘in this trial’.

Fourteen days ago, a class planted identical bean seeds in six small pots. Each pot had the same amount and kind of soil, and all pots were placed where they received similar sunlight. Three pots received twenty milliliters of water daily. The other three received fifty milliliters. After fourteen days, the average height of the plants in the first group was nine centimeters. The second group had an average height of eleven centimeters. Some students concluded that fifty milliliters was the perfect daily amount for all bean plants. The teacher asked them to think more carefully. The study used only six pots and tested only two amounts of water. The class planned to include more pots and several different watering levels in its next investigation.

  1. How many pots were used?
  2. What conditions were kept similar?
  3. How many pots received twenty milliliters each day?
  4. What was the average height of the plants receiving fifty milliliters?
  5. What was the difference between the two average heights?
  6. What claim was not justified by these data?
  7. What will the class change in the next investigation?
  8. Write a cautious English sentence using ‘may’.

A student team wanted to compare materials that might reduce noise in a small room. They placed a sound meter at the same distance from a speaker each time. Without a cover, the reading was seventy-five decibels. When they placed a thick curtain between the speaker and the meter, the reading was seventy decibels. With a foam panel, it was sixty-two decibels. With a thin sheet of paper, it was seventy-three decibels. The students reported the readings but did not calculate a percentage reduction in sound energy. Their teacher explained that decibels use a special scale, so a change in decibel readings should not be treated like an ordinary percentage. The group planned to repeat the measurements at different locations and check whether the results stayed similar.

  1. What instrument did the students use?
  2. What was the reading without a cover?
  3. What was the reading with a thick curtain?
  4. Which tested material gave the lowest reading?
  5. How many decibels lower was the foam reading than the uncovered reading?
  6. Did the students measure a percentage change in sound energy?
  7. What will the students do next?
  8. Write one English sentence comparing the foam panel and paper.

Thirty students participated in a project to reduce waste during school events. At the first event, they collected forty kilograms of mixed waste. The organizers then put more recycling bins near the entrance and added clear signs. At the next event, they collected thirty kilograms of mixed waste and twelve kilograms of recyclable materials. Some students argued that the total amount of waste had decreased because the mixed-waste amount was smaller. However, their teacher pointed out that thirty plus twelve was forty-two kilograms, which was more than the forty kilograms collected before. The new signs may have helped people separate their waste, but the total weight did not show a reduction. The class decided to measure waste by category at the next two events and to record how many visitors attended.

  1. How many students joined the project?
  2. How much mixed waste was collected at the first event?
  3. How much mixed waste was collected at the second event?
  4. How much recyclable material was collected at the second event?
  5. What was the total weight at the second event?
  6. Was the total weight lower than the first event?
  7. What possible effect of the signs was mentioned?
  8. What new information will the class record next time?

  1. Water temperature. Aは15℃、Bは40℃。
  2. 100 milliliters.
  3. Ten grams.
  4. Glass B. B
  5. 130 seconds.
  6. 90 seconds. 130−40=90。
  8. In this trial, the sugar dissolved faster in warmer water.

  1. Six pots.
  2. Soil and sunlight.
  3. Three pots.
  4. Eleven centimeters. 50mL
  5. Two centimeters. 11−9=2。
  6. That fifty milliliters is perfect for all bean plants.
  7. Use more pots and several watering levels.
  8. More water may help these plants grow, but more tests are needed. mayで可能性を明示。

  1. A sound meter.
  2. 75 decibels.
  3. 70 decibels.

Q. Science Report
