英作文では raise A（Aを上げる・増やす）、A rises（Aが上がる）、a problem arises（問題が生じる） を区別します。raise は通常目的語が必要ですが、rise は自動詞です。問題が新たに発生するときは arise が自然な場面があります。
対象：英検3級〜1級の英作文を学ぶ中学生・高校生。4題材と20問の意味・文法の修正を行う、英検公式問題とは異なるオリジナル演習です。

最初に身に付ける4原則
- raise は他動詞：The school raised the fee. のように何を上げたか示す。
- rise は自動詞：The fee rose. のように主語自身が上がる。
- arise は問題・疑問などが生じる意味：A problem arose. 過去形は arose。
- 動詞の語法だけでなく、変化の向きや、実際に測定された結果かを確認する。

修正前：
The cost raised after the school changed the system.
改善例：
The cost rose after the school changed the system.
解説：cost 自体が上がった場合は自動詞 rose。誰かが費用を上げたなら The school raised the cost. のようにします。
