『本を借りる』は borrow a book from a library、『本を貸す』は lend a book to a student。英作文では人と物の動く方向を取り違えやすくなります。rent は料金を伴う貸借を指す場面で使われ、return は返却する動作です。

最初に身に付ける4原則
- borrow A from B：BからAを借りる。借り手が主語。
- lend A to B / lend B A：BにAを貸す。貸し手が主語。
- rent A from B は有料で借りる、rent A to B は貸し出す文脈。契約条件を確認する。
- return A to B：返却先。借りたことだけでは返却済みを意味しない。
