英文要約で cumulative（累計） と monthly（当月）、new（新規）は意味が違います。累計登録が1月末100人、2月末140人なら、単純な累計増加は40人です。しかし、月末に登録中のactive members（現在利用中の会員数）を示した場合は退会・再入会があるため、新規登録40人とは限りません。何が積み重なった数字か確認しましょう。

まず理解しておく4つの基本原則
- cumulative total は特定時点までに積み上げた合計。過去の分を含む。
- monthly number は当月に記録された値。累計値から当月数を求めるには定義と欠測を確認。
- new applications は新規申請。active accounts は現在利用中の件数で退会・再加入の影響を受ける。
- 累計値が増えたとき、何の累計かを明記する。参加回数と異なる人数を混同しない。
代表的な誤答と改善
修正前：
The cumulative total of workshop registrations reached 140 by February, so 140 people registered in February alone.
改善後：
The cumulative registration total reached 140 by February; the February-only figure requires the earlier cumulative count.
解説：累計140には以前の月の登録が含まれているため、当月140と書けません。
