結論｜支持と承認は別
support：意見・計画・人を支持する。support the plan。oppose：計画・方針に反対する。oppose the change（動詞はtoなし）。approve：予算・計画などを権限を持って承認する。approve the budget。approve of は「よいと認める・賛成する」という別の用法もある。object to：行為・計画に異議を唱える。object to removing the trees（toは前置詞）。
100人が計画を支持していても、正式な承認権限を持つ委員会が未承認なら実施が確定したことにはなりません。反対者が何に反対したのか、条件を限定して読むことも大切です。

よくある質問
approveは必ず正式な決定ですか？
approve a budget・approve a planは正式承認の意味が一般的ですが、approve of a decisionのように「その決定をよいと思う」意味もあります。文型で判断してください。
opposeとobject toの違いは？
どちらも反対を表します。opposeは直接目的語を取る動詞、object toは名詞や動名詞を後ろに取る表現です。object toは異議・抗議の意味合いが強くなることがあります。
多数の賛成があれば正式決定ですか？
