結論｜「除外」と「追加」を混同しない
except：全体からある人・ものを除く。Everyone joined except Ken.（ケン以外は全員参加した）。except for：全体から例外を挙げる。The document was complete except for one page.（一ページを除いて書類は完成していた）。
apart from：「～を除けば」と「～に加えて」の両用法。Apart from a small error, the report was correct.（小さな誤りを除けば正しい）、Apart from math, she studies science.（数学に加えて理科を勉強する）。besides：「～のほかに」を表す。Besides the lecture, we attended a discussion.（講演に加え討論にも参加した）。
exceptとexcept forには共通する用法があり、apart fromは意味が両方向に分かれるため、特定の英文で両方成立する表現を機械的に不正解にはしません。文法と設問の論理を確認してください。

exceptとexcept forは例外を表し、besidesは追加を表します。apart fromはどちらの意味にもなるため、文全体を確認します。長文で全員・全施設・全活動などの集合から誰が除かれたのか、別に何が追加されたかを整理しましょう。
