- donate A to B:物品やお金をBへ寄付する。donate books to a library。
- contribute to A / contribute to doing:Aに貢献する。 contribute to improving the schoolのtoは前置詞。
fund new equipment。

A junior high school wanted to create a reading corner with books in several languages. Some families donated books they no longer needed. A local bookstore offered to sponsor an opening event by providing small prizes for a reading challenge. The town agreed to fund the new shelves, but not the event itself. Students contributed to the project by writing short recommendations for the donated books. The teacher explained that donating books, sponsoring an event, funding furniture, and contributing time were all valuable, but they were different forms of support. Original reading passage(慶英会独自)
A volunteer group organized a cleanup along a small river. Local residents donated gloves and reusable bags. One company sponsored the event by paying for a water station, while the city funded the collection and disposal of the rubbish. After the event, the group published the number of bags collected but did not claim that the river would remain clean forever.
Original reading passage(慶英会独自)
A community center planned free Saturday English classes for young students. The center received a donation of dictionaries from several families. A local technology company agreed to sponsor the project by providing tablets for classroom use. The town used public funds to pay instructors, while university volunteers contributed teaching time without receiving payment. The center director told parents that the company was a sponsor but would not choose the lessons or collect students’ personal information. The class schedule would be decided by the teaching team. Some parents thought that because a company sponsored the tablets, the company also paid the instructors. The director corrected this misunderstanding. Donations of books, sponsorship of equipment, funding for instructors, and voluntary teaching were separate parts of the plan.

FAQ
contribute to improving …
