英検準2級プラスの長文では、assign・allocate・distribute・shareをすべて「分ける」「配る」と訳すと、誰が担当し、どこに予算が配分され、何が配布され、どの情報が共有されたのかが曖昧になります。assign＝担当を割り当てる、allocate＝資金・時間を配分する、distribute＝物品や文書を配布する、share＝情報や経験などを共有するという基本の違いを、慶英会の独自40問で学習します。短文12問・書き換え12問・長文4題16問、全解答と全文和訳を収録しました。

結論｜担当・予算・配布物・情報共有は別の動作

• assign：仕事・役割・人員を特定の担当者に割り当てる。assign tasks to students、assign a teacher to each group。
• allocate：資金・時間・スペースなどの限られた資源を目的別に配分する。allocate funds to repairs。
• distribute：資料や物などを複数の相手へ配る。distribute maps to visitors。情報の配信にも使われます。
• share：考え・データ・経験・資料を他者と共有する。share results with classmates。物理的な共有の意味でも使えます。

これらの動詞は一部重なることがあります。例えば人員をallocateする表現や、情報をdistributeする表現も自然です。英語では何を（目的語）、誰に（相手）、何のためにが明確になるよう、文脈に合う連語を選ぶことが重要です。

英検準2級プラスで必要となる読み方

日本英語検定協会が示す準2級プラスのReadingは短文語句空所17問、長文語句空所6問、長文内容一致8問です。学校・地域・科学・仕事などの身近な社会的話題が扱われます。公式の試験内容。ここでは公式問題のコピーではなく、学校行事や公共施設を題材とした慶英会の独自英文で練習します。

Part 1｜4動詞を文脈で選ぶ短文12問

空欄には assign / allocate / distribute / share を、文に合う形にして入れましょう。英文は過去形で書かれている問題が多いため、時制に合わせて形を判断してください。答えを開く前に、動詞の目的語と前置詞を確認します。

長文に複数の動詞が登場しても、情報の役割を混同しないことがポイントです。各問の選択肢には、who decided / who received / what was shared / how manyの取り違えを含めています。正答の理由は解答欄で確認できます。

At a school science fair, the organizing teacher assigned two students to welcome visitors and another three to check the projectors. The team allocated 15,000 yen from its budget to printing posters, while saving the remaining money for materials. On the morning of the event, volunteers distributed a schedule and a map to each guest. Students from different classes also shared their research findings in a short question-and-answer session. One visitor assumed that the students who handed out maps had also chosen the budget, but that was incorrect. The teacher had allocated the money, and the volunteers were simply distributing materials according to the plan. At the end of the fair, the student leaders shared suggestions for next year’s event with the teachers.

Because the schools had different numbers of students, they did not receive equal numbers of books. Instead, the library asked each school to report its needs. Staff then distributed the books to the schools in labeled boxes. The manager assigned one librarian to keep a record of every delivery. The schools agreed to share short reviews of the readers online after using them for a month. Some parents thought that sharing reviews meant the schools would send the books back immediately. The library explained that only the reviews would be shared at that stage; the borrowing period had not ended.

Instead, the organizer reviewed the numbers and planned to share the report online the following week. One new volunteer confused the planned online sharing with the earlier distribution of physical supplies. The leader explained that they were two separate activities.

復習｜4つの動作を情報整理に使う

• まず本文の動詞に下線を引き、assignなら担当者、allocateなら配分先と資源量、distributeなら配布物と受取人、shareなら共有情報と相手を整理する。
• 数字が出てきたら、allocated 80 booksの80が全体の冊数なのか配分した冊数なのか、前後の文も確認する。
• distributeとshareは重なる場面もあるため、1語だけで断定せず、文脈の物品・データ・報告・公開の区別を優先する。
• 翌日に4長文のうち2題を再解答し、各正答の主語・目的語・受け手を英文から示す。

FAQ

assignとallocateはどう違いますか？

assignは主に仕事や役割などを誰に担当させるか、allocateは資金・時間・場所などをどの目的へどれだけ配分するかを表します。ただし人員をallocateする用法もあるので、目的語を確認しましょう。

distributeとshareは入れ替えられますか？

一部の場面では可能ですが、distributeは配る行為そのものを強調し、shareは他者と情報や物を共有することを中心に表します。distribute printed guidesとshare research findingsの違いを確認すると分かりやすくなります。

資料を配った人がその内容を決めた人だと判断してよいですか？

判断できません。配布担当と作成者・予算決定者は別の場合があります。英検の内容一致では誰がどの行動をしたか、英文の主語を根拠に答えます。
