結論｜施設案内は「原則→例外→必要な行動」で聞き分ける
英検準2級リスニング第3部の短い説明文で、開館時間・持参物・禁止事項・申込期限を取り違える原因は、原則の情報と、but・except・only・ifの後に出る例外を区別できていないことがあります。たとえば「図書館は月曜休館。ただし返却箱は毎日使える」なら、施設は休みでも返却はできるという別のルールです。誰が何を利用できるか、いつまでに何をするかを確定させて解きましょう。
英検協会の準2級試験内容によると、リスニング第3部は短い物語文・説明文の内容一致を問う10問・各問1回放送・印刷4択です。この教材は慶英会独自の6英文・各4問＝24問で、公式の1英文1問を模した設問数ではありません。録音音源は付属しないため、保護者・講師に一度読んでもらう練習と、英検協会の公式音源を併用してください。
施設案内で間違いやすい7つの英語表現
- except Monday：月曜日を除いて。月曜が例外であることを確認。
- only cardholders：カード保持者だけ。誰でも利用できる範囲と分ける。
- by Wednesday：水曜日までに。開始日時ではなく提出期限。
- the previous day：前日。予約する日の前日という意味。
- provide / bring your own：施設が用意する物と参加者が持参する物を区別。
- if there is heavy rain：大雨の場合だけ変更する条件。
- rather than …：〜ではなく。案内された正しい次の行動に注目。
本文の聞き取りを4段階に分ける
- ① 音声前に4択の比較対象が日時・人物・場所・必要物・費用のどれか把握する。
- ② 本文中の原則的な案内を整理し、but・except・only・ifの後の制限を確認する。
