結論｜質問の最初の助動詞と時を表す語を聞き分けてから答える
英検準2級の二次面接では、Do you …?にYes, I do.、Did you …?にYes, I did.、Have you ever …?にYes, I have.、Will you …?には未来の内容というように、相手の質問の時制や意図に合わせた応答が基本です。質問が現在の習慣なのか、過去の経験なのか、現在までの経験なのか、将来の予定なのかを取り違えると、意味が伝わりにくくなります。英語を長く話すことだけを目標にせず、質問に直接答えて必要な情報を自然に加える練習を行いましょう。
日本英語検定協会の準2級の現行試験内容では、面接は約6分。No.1が音読文の内容、No.2・No.3がイラスト、No.4・No.5が受験者自身の意見などを問う質問です。本記事の40問は慶英会独自の時制応答練習であり、実際のNo.4・No.5の出題文や時制の割合を再現したものではありません。公式のNo.4はカードの話題に関連し、No.5は日常生活の話題を中心とします。
先に覚える5つの質問の形
- Do you …? / How often …? 今の習慣・好み → Yes, I do. / I play soccer twice a week.
- Did you …? / What did you …? 終わった過去の出来事 → Yes, I did. / I visited my grandparents.
- Have you ever …? / How long have you …? 経験・現在までの継続 → Yes, I have. / I have studied English for five years.
- Will you …? / What are you going to …? 将来の予定・希望 → I will … / I’m going to …
- Do you think …? / Should …? / Is it …? 意見 → Yes / No＋理由。必要に応じて具体例を述べる。
面接の練習方法｜質問を一度だけ聞いて答える
- 質問を家族・先生がランダムに一度だけ読み上げる。学習者は表示された英文を見ない。
- まずDo / Did / Have / Willなどの助動詞とyesterday・last year・next weekなどの時を示す語を確認する。
- 一つの質問に直接答える短い文を述べ、可能なら理由や具体例を一文添える。必要な情報量は質問によるため、必ず二文でなければならない決まりはない。
- 回答が止まったときは別の簡単な語に言い換える。無理に知らない難語を使わない。
- 後半の模範回答と比較し、文法だけでなく質問に答えているかを確認する。

答えが思いつかないときの3つの方法
- 質問の時制だけ先に確認：聞こえたDidをそのままYes, I did.に利用し、答えの骨格から組み立てる。
- 事実と例を分ける：経験の有無ならYes, I have.で答え、その後にI visited … last year.と過去の具体例を補う。
- 立場を無理に作らない：意見の質問に対してNoという返答も可能。自分が説明しやすい立場を選び、because以下に簡単な理由を付ける。

- 1日目：現在形の8問をランダムに読み上げてもらい、Doの返答が定着しているかを確認。
- 2日目：過去形の8問。Didと過去の出来事を正しく対応させる。
- 3日目：現在完了の8問。Have you everと具体的な過去の出来事を分ける。
- 4日目：未来の8問。will・be going to・would like toを自然に使う。
- 5日目：意見の8問。立場と理由を短く明確に話す。
- 6日目：40問を混合し、冒頭の助動詞を聞き逃さず答える。
- 7日目：英検協会の公式面接サンプルやバーチャル二次試験で、形式・質問数・流れを確かめる。
よくある質問（FAQ）
Q．No.4とNo.5は必ず過去形の質問が出ますか？
出題される時制を断定することはできません。公式には受験者自身の意見などを問う質問とされており、この教材は時制を問わず柔軟に答える準備です。
Q．質問に一文だけで答えると減点されますか？
回答内容・情報量などを総合的に評価します。一文だけかどうかで一律に決まるわけではありません。質問が求める情報を十分に伝えられるよう練習しましょう。
Q．Have you ever…?は必ず現在完了で答えますか？
経験の有無はYes, I have. / No, I haven’t.などが自然です。その後に一回の過去の体験を述べるなら過去形も使えます。
Q．質問を聞き逃したらどうしたらよいですか？
公式には自然な流れの中での聞き返しについて案内があります。繰り返しの不自然な聞き返しは注意が必要です。普段の練習でCould you say that again, please?などを自然に言えるようにしておきましょう。
