結論｜誘いを断っても、質問への回答と下線部への2質問を必ず書く
英検準2級のEメール問題では、届いた英文メールに適切に返信し、下線部の特徴を知るための具体的な質問を2つすることが重要です。相手の誘いに参加できない設定なら、お礼→参加できない旨→簡単な理由→下線部についての質問2つを順に書くと内容の不足を防げます。単にNo.と一言で終えるのではなく、誘いを断る理由と相手への関心を一つの返信に収めます。
現行の準2級WritingはEメール1題と意見英作文1題です。語数の目安はEメール40〜50語、意見英作文50〜60語。日本英語検定協会の試験内容と公式体験版に沿って確認しました。以下の8通・英文修正24題は慶英会独自作成で、公式過去問ではありません。断ること自体が高得点につながると保証するものではなく、指示に対応することと明確な英語を優先します。
返信の基本型と、英検準2級で間違えやすい5点
- 相手の質問に直接答える：Can you come?に対し、I’m sorry, but I can’t come on Friday.と可否が分かるように書く。
- 理由を簡潔に示す：because I have a music lesson.など事情を1つ補う。
- 下線部の名詞を具体化する：イベントなら所要時間・参加費・場所・道具など、下線部の特徴を問う。
- 疑問文を2つ書く：How long does it last? / Do students need to bring anything?のように答えが重ならない質問にする。
- 40〜50語程度に調整する：語数は単なる数字ではなく、必要な情報と分かりやすさの最終確認。
使える英語表現｜丁寧に断り、別の機会につなぐ
Thank you for inviting me.（誘ってくれてありがとう）／I’m afraid I can’t join you this week.（残念ながら今週は参加できません）／I have another plan on Friday.（金曜は別の予定があります）／I’d like to visit another day.（別の日なら行きたいです）。これらは必須の決まり文句ではありません。必要な回答と2質問を先に用意し、余った語数で丁寧さを補いましょう。

失点を防ぐ復習順序｜2つの質問は必ず異なる情報にする
- 最初にメールの質問を日本語に言い換え、自分の回答をYes/Noで決めてから、理由を英語で1文書く。
- 下線部を主題として捉え、価格・期間・場所・頻度・設備・持ち物など異なる2要素を質問する。
- How long does …? / How many …? / Is …?など基本の疑問文語順をチェックし、40〜50語の目安に整える。
- 翌日に答えを隠して同じ設問をやり直し、3日後には別の題材で初見練習する。
よくある質問
Q．誘いをNoと断ると減点されますか？
Noという立場だけで減点されるとは断定できません。設問に答え、下線部の特徴に関する2質問を成立させることを優先します。
Q．どんな質問でも2つあれば十分ですか？
いいえ。下線部の特徴を尋ねる具体的な質問を2つ書く必要があります。イベントであれば時間や場所、費用などについて聞けます。
Q．同じ意味を2回尋ねてもよいですか？
形式的に2文あっても異なる情報を求めていないと課題の意図を満たしにくいため、内容が重複しないようにします。
Q．50語より1語多いだけで0点ですか？
公式の語数は目安です。機械的な一律0点とは断定せず、指定範囲程度に収める練習をして、必要内容が伝わることを優先します。
Q．Eメールと意見英作文の違いは？
Eメールは相手の質問に返信し下線部の特徴について2質問します。意見英作文は与えられた質問への立場と理由2つをまとめます。
