A town library was considering a longer weekend schedule. If its current trial attracts enough visitors, the manager will request funding for extra staff. The council, however, has not approved a permanent change. If the library were to open every weekend, it would need more staff and security arrangements. The manager added that if the building should require urgent repairs, some sessions might have to be canceled. Parents welcomed the possibility of extra study time, but teachers warned that attendance alone would not prove better learning. Officials planned to compare costs, visitor feedback, and the needs of families who could not visit during the week. The decision would depend on evidence collected over several months.

Q33. What would trigger a request for more staff funding?

  1. One favorable newspaper headline
  2. A permanent ban on weekends
  3. Enough visitors during the trial
  4. The closure of every school

Q34. What does ‘were to open’ express?

  1. A hypothetical expansion that has not been approved
  2. An action completed last year
  3. A legal obligation to open
  4. An event happening every day now

Q35. What might interrupt sessions unexpectedly?

  1. New catalogue labels
  2. A greater number of study desks
  3. Lower advertising expenses
  4. Urgent repairs to the building

Q36. Why would the council collect more evidence?

  1. The town had no library
  2. Visitor numbers alone did not establish educational benefits
  3. Every visitor was required to attend
  4. All costs had already been measured

A school prepared an emergency communication plan before the rainy season. Families were told that if the forecast indicates a serious risk, the school will review outdoor activities. The principal also explained that if emergency services should issue a warning, the school would immediately contact families through several channels. A student asked whether every outdoor lesson would be canceled whenever rain was possible. The principal said that this was not the policy. If the school were to suspend all lessons whenever rain was forecast, pupils might lose valuable opportunities without a measurable gain in safety. Officials instead planned to assess each situation using reliable reports and transport conditions. They also wanted to know whether families understood the messages rather than simply counting how many notices had been sent.

Q37. When would the school review outdoor activities?

  1. After every music lesson
  2. Only after all classes ended
  3. Whenever a textbook was returned
  4. When a forecast indicated a serious risk

Q38. What would occur if emergency services should issue a warning?

  1. The school would stop communicating
  2. Families would be contacted promptly through several channels
  3. All buses would run faster
  4. The school would automatically close for a year

Q39. Why did the principal reject automatic cancellations for any rain?

  1. They might remove learning opportunities without proven safety gains
  2. Rain could never be dangerous
  3. Weather forecasts were not available
  4. Every family could travel safely

Q40. What did officials want to measure beyond sending notices?

  1. Only the printing cost
  2. The number of textbooks borrowed
  3. Whether families understood the information
  4. Only the length of the principal’s speech

FAQ

If the town were to change the policy…

if shouldの後は必ずwouldですか?
