  • between A and B:明確に区別できる対象の間。

A fictional school built a path between its new library and the science center. It also placed signs across the campus to help visitors find the route. During an inspection, staff discovered that some students still had to walk through a narrow corridor inside an older building. The school planned to review that corridor, recognizing that signs spread around the campus did not by themselves solve every accessibility problem.

D1. Where was the new path built?

  1. Across the entire region.
  2. Between the library and the science center.
  3. Inside a bus.
  4. Among the teachers’ desks.

  3. A narrow corridor inside an older building still affected access.
  4. All campus signs were removed.

A fictional community center gathered opinions among residents about a new weekend program. At first, most responses came from volunteers who already visited the center. The team then distributed questionnaires across several neighborhoods to include people who had not used the service. Researchers explained that responses could differ between clearly defined groups, and that the original volunteers were not necessarily representative of all residents.

D3. Why were questionnaires distributed more widely?

  1. To reach residents who had not used the center.
  2. To stop the program permanently.
  3. To eliminate all local opinions.

  3. No volunteer had participated.
  4. Existing volunteers might not represent all residents.

Researchers examined a river that flowed through a protected forest. They set up measuring stations between two bridges and traveled across the river by boat when necessary. Different readings appeared among samples collected on separate days, but the scientists warned that a short set of observations could not establish a lasting change. They planned to collect measurements throughout the following year.

D5. Where were the measuring stations located?

  1. Among the tourists.
  2. Between two bridges.
  3. Inside the museum.
  4. Across every road in the city.

D7. Where was the photograph found?

  1. Among boxes of documents.
  2. Between two cars.
  3. Across the river.
  4. Throughout the semester.

D8. Why was the photograph kept under controlled conditions?
