英検4級get ready・be ready・prepare forの違い｜準備する・準備完了の独自40問【全訳】

英検4級で準備を表すget ready・be ready・prepareを使い分けるには、「準備する動作」「準備できた状態」と後ろに続く語句を確認します。get ready for＋名詞、be ready for＋名詞、be ready to＋動詞原形、prepare for＋名詞、prepare＋物が基本です。慶英会オリジナルの短文20問・語句整序10問・長文読解10問、合計40問と全解答・全訳を掲載しています。

get ready・be ready・prepareの違い

get ready for the trip＝旅行の準備をする（動作）。be ready for the trip＝旅行の準備ができている（状態）。be ready to leave＝出発する準備ができている（後ろは動詞）。prepare for the exam＝試験に備える（対象は行事）。prepare lunch＝昼食を用意する（後ろに物を直接置く）。prepare to leave＝出発に備える、も自然です。

最大の違いは前置詞と動詞の組み合わせです。ready forの後ろには名詞、ready toの後ろには動詞の原形を置きます。prepare the roomは部屋を整えるという意味で、prepare for the roomとは通常言いません。一方、prepare for a testは試験に向けて学習・準備する意味になります。

よくある質問

ready forとready toはどう違いますか。

ready for the test（試験への準備ができている）は名詞を続け、ready to take the test（試験を受ける準備ができている）は動詞原形を続けます。

prepareの後ろには必ずforが必要ですか。

必要ではありません。prepare lunchやprepare a roomは物を直接用意する意味で、forは付けません。prepare for a testは試験に備えるという意味です。

get readyとbe readyは同じですか。

get readyは準備をする過程、be readyは準備が整った状態を表すのが基本です。
