英検3級EメールのWhere did you buy it?とWhen will you give it?は、同じ贈り物でも答える情報が違います。前者は購入した場所、後者はこれから渡す予定の日時を尋ねます。慶英会の独自8通40課題で、場所の前置詞・過去形boughtと未来形will give・単数複数の代名詞・15〜25語の返信を練習します。

結論｜どこで買ったかは過去、いつ渡すかは未来

Where did you buy it? → I bought it at a bookshop. / When will you give it? → I will give it on Friday. のように答えます。buyの過去形はboughtで、予定にはwill giveを使えます。on Fridayは曜日、at threeは時刻、at a shopは店の場所です。

英検協会の公式3級試験内容ではEメール返信と意見英作文が各1題です。返信本文の語数目安は15〜25語で、相手の2つの質問に答えます。以下の8通は慶英会が独自に制作した架空の問題であり、公式過去問を転載していません。

Where／Whenを区別する早見表

質問必要な情報例

buy–bought–bought、give–gave–givenを覚えます。I will give it to her.のように代名詞を先に置いた場合はtoを使います。postcardsやpencilsのように複数の物を指す場合はitではなくthemが適切です。

よくある質問

I will give it herは正しいですか？

通常はI will give it to her.です。I will give her the book.という語順も可能ですが、代名詞を目的語として置く基本形はgive it to herです。

Whereの質問にon Fridayと答えてよいですか？

on Fridayは日時です。Where did you buy it?にはat a bookshopなど場所を答えてください。

itとthemはどう使い分けますか？

a notebookならit、two postcardsならthemなど、指す物の単数・複数に合わせます。
